Facility Services, Inc. (FSI) is seeking an experienced and highly motivated Grounds Laborer to support one of our strategic partners in delivering critical Base Operations Support Services at Fort Belvoir, Virginia. This is a temporary position that will end October 31, 2026.

The Labor Ground Maintenance position maintains grounds of industrial, commercial, or public property. The grounds maintenance laborer is responsible for building and maintaining gardens, property buildings, and other outdoor landscapes. Ensure plant growth, the cleanliness of outdoor facilities and pruning of overgrown hedges. Additionally, the landscaper maintenances repairs and equipment, landscape structures.

Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

• Cuts lawn; trims and edges around walks, flower beds, and walls.
• Prunes shrubs and trees to shape and improve growth or remove damaged leaves, branches, or twigs.
• Sprayes lawn, shrubs, and trees with fertilizer, herbicides, and insecticides.
• Rakes and bags or burns leaves.
• Cleans grounds and removes litter and cleans out drainage ditches and culverts.
• Shovels snow from walks and driveways.
• Spreads salt on public passageways to prevent ice buildup.
• Plants grass, flowers, trees, and shrubs.
• Waters lawn and shrubs.
• Repairs fences, gates, walls, and walks.
• Paints fences and outbuildings.
• Sharpens tools such as weed cutters, edging tools, and shears.
• Makes minor repairs on equipment such as lawn mower, spreader, and snow removal equipment.

Education and/or Work Experience Requirements

• Must have a high school diploma (or GED) one to three months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Must have experience working in the commercial landscape maintenance industry.
• Experience in O&M to include support of a work force that is responsible for O&M and repair of all facility systems, subsystems, and selected equipment typically found in a Base Operating Services contract.
• Must be able to read, write, speak, and understand English.
• Must be able to pass a company drug screen and background check.
• Must possess a valid state driver's license and insurable driving record.
