Senior AI Software Engineer

A fast-growth startup is hiring a Senior AI Software Engineer to join the founding engineering team at a pivotal moment. You'll be building the infrastructure that powers the next generation of intelligent procurement, where autonomous AI agents handle supplier discovery, contract negotiation, and spend optimization in real time. This isn't a "we use AI" company. LLMs, agentic workflows, and event-driven architecture are the core product. You'll work across a Java and Python backend and distributed systems, collaborating directly with AI/ML engineers to ship agentic pipelines that make real procurement decisions at scale. This is a backend heavy software role, and a massive portion of the role will be AI development. Candidates MUST have 1+ year of experience with agentic AI workflows in order to be considered for the role. This is a hybrid role in Brooklyn, NYC. Prospective candidates must be willing to commute! What You'll Do Design and scale full-stack features across a Java/Python backend Build and own event-driven, distributed systems that process high-volume procurement data in real time Architect and integrate LLM-powered agentic workflows (OpenAI, Anthropic, LangChain, RAG pipelines) that autonomously surface supplier insights, flag risk, and drive decisioning Own the reliability and scalability of multi-agent orchestration systems across async, distributed environments Manage AWS infrastructure (ECS/EKS, RDS, networking, monitoring) with IaC (Terraform/CDK/CloudFormation) Lead architecture discussions and system design for AI-native, production-grade systems Mentor junior engineers and help define engineering culture and process What We're Looking For 6+ years of full-stack engineering experience, with meaningful time in Java and/or Python backends Strong grasp of distributed systems and event-driven architecture (Kafka, Kinesis, or similar) Hands‑on experience deploying LLMs and AI APIs into production, including agentic or multi‑agent systems Familiarity with orchestration frameworks (LangChain, LangGraph, CrewAI, or similar) Deep comfort with async patterns, message queues, and building for scale Strong communication and mentoring instincts At ease in fast-paced, high‑autonomy startup environments Nice to Have Experience with RAG pipelines, vector databases (Pinecone, Weaviate, pgvector), or fine‑tuning workflows Background in procurement, supply chain, spend management, or B2B SaaS 0 to 1 startup experience Senior equity at a company redefining how enterprises buy Direct access to founders and real influence over product and technical direction Agentic AI work that ships, not just prototypes High‑trust culture with fast growth and early leadership upside #J-18808-Ljbffr Arcadia
