Position Summary
Seeking an experienced Database Administrator (DBA) to join our Information Technology team. The DBA will be responsible for the administration, maintenance, monitoring, security, and optimization of enterprise database environments supporting critical retail, distribution, and corporate systems.




This role will work closely with infrastructure, development, devops, production support, security, and business teams to ensure database reliability, performance, availability, and scalability. The ideal candidate is a hands-on SQL Server professional capable of working independently while contributing to modernization initiatives, automation efforts, and long-term database strategy.







Primary Responsibilities:

• Administer and support Microsoft SQL Server environments.
• Monitor database health, performance, storage utilization, replication, and scheduled jobs.
• Perform database maintenance activities including:
  • Backups
  • Index maintenance
  • Patching support
  • Database integrity verification
• Investigate and resolve database performance issues.
• Troubleshoot production incidents involving databases, applications, and integrations.
• Manage database security including:
  • Permissions
  • Roles
  • Access reviews
  • Security best practices
• Support development teams with performance tuning, query optimization, and deployment activities.
• Maintain database documentation, standards, and operating procedures.
• Create and maintain architecture diagrams and database dependency documentation.
• Participate in root cause analysis for database-related incidents.
• Assist with data migration, modernization, and consolidation projects.
• Automate recurring DBA tasks using SQL, PowerShell, or other approved tools.
• Collaborate with infrastructure, networking, security, DevOps, and application teams on enterprise initiatives.

Required Qualifications

• Strong experience administering Microsoft SQL Server in production environments.
• Strong knowledge of:
  • SQL Server Administration
  • Transact-SQL (T-SQL)
  • Backup and recovery processes
  • Performance tuning
  • Index management
  • Query optimization
• Experience troubleshooting database performance and availability issues.
• Experience supporting highly available business-critical environments.
• Knowledge of database security principles and access management.
• Experience with SQL Server replication.
• Experience with database monitoring and alerting solutions.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with Microsoft Fabric.
• Experience with Azure SQL or other cloud database technologies.
• Experience with DevOps practices and automation initiatives.
• Experience automating recurring database administration tasks.
• PowerShell scripting experience.
• Familiarity with source control and deployment processes.
• Retail industry experience is a plus.
• Experience supporting application development and modernization projects
