Job Description Johnson 6 is a 37-bed medical unit with private rooms and overflow beds for high census periods. It includes a negative pressure room for specialized needs. The unit is equipped to care for behavioral health patients, including those on suicide precautions, often placed in private rooms for monitoring. Patients are typically aged 16 and older, with a range from 20 to 90 years, admitted from various services such as internal medicine, oncology, hospice, infectious disease, behavioral health, thoracic surgery, and renal. Common Medical Diagnoses Pancreatitis Cerebral vascular accident Dementia Delirium Failure to thrive Cancer Substance abuse issues Common Nursing Diagnoses Nutritional deficit Safety (Fall risk) Alteration in skin integrity Alteration in body image Cellulitis Pain management Powerlessness An integral part of patient care is the unit-based Pharmacist present on the day shift, supporting complex pharmaceutical interventions and provider order management, enhancing RN collaboration and outcomes. Qualifications Graduate of an accredited nursing school Current Massachusetts RN license Minimum 1 year of RN acute or post-acute care experience BSN preferred BCLS certification Beth Israel Lahey Health requires all staff to be vaccinated against influenza and COVID-19 as a condition of employment.
