We are seeking an experienced Buyer for a long‑term, direct hire role with a company that designs, engineers, fabricates, and helps manage pre‑engineered steel building projects. Schedule: M-F (First Shift) Employment type: Direct Hire, Full‑Time Job Summary The Buyer I is responsible for supporting purchasing and material planning activities for manufacturing operations within a structural steel and pre‑engineered metal building (PEMB) environment. This role assists with sourcing raw materials, fabricated components, production supplies, shop consumables, and operational services necessary to support daily manufacturing operations and production schedules. Responsibilities for Buyer Utilise Strumis ERP software to create, manage, and track purchase orders, material requirements, inventory transactions, and procurement activities. Maintain accurate item master data, vendor information, material codes, and purchasing records within the Strumis system. Assist with resolving purchasing discrepancies, receiving issues, and inventory variances within the ERP system. Create, process, and maintain purchase orders for raw materials, fabricated components, production supplies, shop consumables, equipment, and operational services. Monitor open purchase orders and follow up with suppliers to ensure timely delivery of materials and services. Coordinate with vendors regarding pricing, lead times, shipment schedules, order confirmations, shortages, and delivery discrepancies. Assist with sourcing materials and evaluating alternative suppliers to support operational demands and cost control initiatives. Review material requisitions and verify purchasing information for accuracy, completeness, and proper approvals. Assist with managing inventory levels to minimize shortages, excess inventory, and production interruptions. Maintain accurate purchasing records, procurement files, vendor information, and system documentation. Enter and maintain purchasing data within ERP, inventory, or purchasing systems. Qualifications for Buyer Experience: 3 years of purchasing, procurement, inventory control, or manufacturing support experience preferred. Experience in manufacturing, fabrication, structural steel, or industrial environments. Experience using Strumis ERP software within a structural steel fabrication or manufacturing environment strongly preferred. Experience working with ERP, MRP, or inventory management systems. Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications including Excel, Word, and Outlook. Education: Associate degree in Business, Supply Chain, Purchasing, Operations Management, or related field. Bachelor’s degree preferred. Understanding of purchasing, procurement, inventory management, and supply chain operations. Knowledge of manufacturing materials, shop supplies, and production support processes preferred. Work Environment Office environment within a manufacturing and production setting. Frequent interaction with production, warehouse, and operational teams.
