SMH Interventional Radiology Rad Tech position requires proficiency in Neurosurgery/Neuroscience.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities

• Demonstrates competence in selecting exposure factors, positioning, and consistently producing radiologic images of diagnostic quality.
• Works cooperatively with all department members to resolve problems expediently.
• Displays flexibility, team spirit, compassion, respect, politeness, and accountability when dealing with customers.
• Demonstrates awareness of and sensitivity to patient rights in all interactions with patients.

Areas of Emphasis

• Administers oral contrast as needed per exam.
• Instructs and prepares patients for radiographic/fluoroscopic examinations and assists Radiologist during procedures.
• Demonstrates competence and proficiency in operating all x-ray equipment, CR, and DR systems.
• Reports equipment malfunctions to manager or lead.
• Completes all assigned procedures timely and uses time between procedures to the department's advantage by assisting others, performing clerical duties, stocking, transporting, etc.
• Understands the role of maintaining medication security for authorized personnel only.
• Demonstrates competency in providing healthcare services in their job category to all age groups.
• Demonstrates competency in interpersonal relationships with all age groups.

Documentation/Information Management

• Demonstrates competency in the use of the Hospital Information System (HIS), Radiology Information System (RIS), and PACS.
• Participates in hospital performance improvement activities when warranted.
• Maintains confidentiality using a personal password and all patient care modules.
• Answers technical telephone inquiries from physicians or hospital personnel while maintaining good phone etiquette.

Requirements

• BLS certification (American Heart Association ONLY)
• Two years of experience
• Licensing in the state of NY
