Executive Director, AI Delivery Management

Merck

Merck seeks an Executive Director of AI Delivery Management to lead APEX's engagement and delivery function as a senior member of the leadership team. This role oversees approximately 30 geographically dispersed employees, manages portfolio governance, and drives adoption of AI solutions across the enterprise.

Responsibilities

Set vision and strategy for AI engagement and delivery management, translating leadership priorities into actionable execution plans
Lead and mentor approximately 30 employees across geographically dispersed tech centers, building high-performing delivery execution teams
Oversee portfolio management and governance, including demand triage, prioritization frameworks, and investment decision criteria
Ensure product management delivers clear strategy, roadmaps, and lifecycle management aligned to business value and outcomes
Drive client engagement and partnership quality, managing opportunity funneling and ensuring measurable business impact from AI initiatives

Requirements

Minimum 15 years progressive leadership in software development or related fields
5+ years leading managers across multiple functional teams in multiple geographies
5+ years delivering enterprise AI or intelligent automation solutions with measurable impact
Advanced degree preferred: MBA, MS in AI/ML, Computer Science, or related field
Expertise in financial valuation, ROI analysis, and risk assessment for technology investments
Demonstrated thought leadership in AI strategy, product management, and portfolio governance
Exceptional relationship-building and executive presence with ability to influence senior leadership
