General Manager

The General Manager (GM) is responsible for the leadership, financial performance, guest experience, team development, brand compliance, and physical condition of Hyatt House Bozeman. As the property’s senior leader, the GM is expected to operate the hotel as their business—owning results, developing the team, protecting the asset, supporting sales and revenue strategies, and creating an environment where guests and employees feel valued. Hyatt House is an upscale extended-stay brand designed to provide the comforts of home while traveling. The GM must understand transient and extended-stay needs and lead an operation built around comfort, consistency, and belonging. The GM works closely with InnTrusted, ownership, Hyatt, above-property Sales and Revenue Management teams, department leaders, vendors, and community partners.

PRE-OPENING & HOTEL LAUNCH

As the opening GM, responsibilities include: Recruit, hire, train, and develop the opening team. Establish a culture reflecting Hyatt’s culture of care and InnTrusted’s Mission and Core Principles. Coordinate with InnTrusted, ownership, Hyatt, contractors, vendors, and department leaders throughout opening. Ensure systems, licenses, inventories, policies, vendors, training, inspections, and department readiness are in place before opening. Partner with Sales and Revenue Management leaders on opening strategy. Build awareness in Bozeman and transition the hotel successfully into daily operations.

FINANCIAL PERFORMANCE

The GM is accountable for the financial success of the hotel and will: Prepare and manage budgets, forecasts, capital plans, and business plans. Review the P&L and understand not only what results are, but why they occurred. Achieve budgeted revenue, profitability, EBITDA, and operating goals. Monitor payroll, labor productivity, staffing, expenses, purchasing, and inventory. Control costs without compromising guest experience, safety, cleanliness, or brand standards. Submit accurate financial information on time, address trends, protect assets, and identify capital needs. Work with InnTrusted and ownership to improve profitability and ROI.

REVENUE MANAGEMENT & SALES

The GM establishes the hotel’s business objectives, budget expectations, and performance strategy while partnering with InnTrusted and Hyatt Sales and Revenue Management teams to execute those goals. Partner with InnTrusted Regional and Area Sales leaders to support the hotel’s budget, market positioning, and business needs. Work with Hyatt and InnTrusted Revenue Management leaders to maximize occupancy, ADR, RevPAR, market share, and total revenue. Participate in strategy meetings and understand occupancy, rates, pace, market conditions, competitive positioning, and demand trends. Collaborate with Sales and Revenue leaders to identify need periods, growth opportunities, and ensure agreed-upon strategies are executed. Support key account relationships and client interactions when appropriate. Ensure hotel leaders understand forecasts, business mix, group activity, and demand factors affecting operations. Maintain awareness of Bozeman market conditions, events, new supply, rates, and competitive trends. The GM is not the hotel’s Sales or Revenue Management leader. The GM is the property’s primary business leader, partnering with specialized InnTrusted and Hyatt professionals to execute strategy and achieve ownership expectations.

EXTENDED-STAY & HYATT HOUSE EXPERIENCE

Hyatt House guests may stay for a night, a week, a month, or longer. Extended-stay hospitality requires building relationships, not simply processing transactions. The GM will: Create a culture focused on knowing guests personally and creating a sense of belonging. Ensure extended-stay guests receive consistent communication and attention. Encourage employees to learn guest names, preferences, routines, and needs. Ensure guestrooms, kitchens, appliances, guest laundry, and residential amenities remain clean, functional, and well maintained. Ensure extended-stay housekeeping and pet-friendly operations meet Hyatt standards. Our objective is simple: guests should feel that Hyatt House Bozeman is their house while they are away from home.

FOOD & BEVERAGE

The GM oversees Hyatt House food and beverage operations, including complimentary breakfast, H Bar, H Market, meeting/event service when applicable, food safety, alcohol compliance, inventory, purchasing, labor, cost of goods, brand compliance, and guest satisfaction.

PEOPLE & LEADERSHIP

The GM creates an environment where employees are confident, supported, accountable, and able to grow. Recruit and retain employees who reflect InnTrusted and Hyatt expectations. Set clear goals and provide coaching, mentoring, recognition, and constructive feedback. Develop future leaders and hold department leaders accountable. Maintain appropriate staffing and labor productivity. Address HR matters consistently with company policy. Ensure required InnTrusted, Hyatt, safety, and departmental training is completed. Promote teamwork and maintain a visible leadership presence. No responsibility within the hotel is beneath the GM when assistance is needed to care for a guest or support the team.

GUEST EXPERIENCE & WORLD OF HYATT

Regularly interact with guests and solicit feedback. Monitor guest satisfaction scores, reviews, surveys, and World of Hyatt feedback. Ensure concerns are resolved quickly, genuinely, and professionally. Empower employees to resolve reasonable guest concerns. Ensure World of Hyatt members are appropriately recognized. Develop action plans when satisfaction falls below expectations and recognize employees for positive feedback.

BRAND, HOUSEKEEPING & PROPERTY CONDITION

Maintain Hyatt House brand standards, required training, quality‑assurance readiness, and corrective action plans. Routinely inspect guestrooms, public areas, exterior areas, food and beverage spaces, and back-of-house operations; personally inspect guestrooms weekly. Monitor housekeeping, laundry, and supervisory labor relative to occupied rooms. Review scheduling, productivity, inventories, room inspections, and deep‑cleaning programs. Maintain an effective preventive‑maintenance program and ensure deficiencies are corrected promptly. Conduct regular property walks with maintenance leadership. Maintain guestrooms, public areas, landscaping, parking, signage, entrances, and back‑of‑house spaces. Ensure life‑safety inspections, testing, key security, and access controls remain current. Identify capital needs before they become emergencies.

SAFETY & SECURITY

Maintain a safe environment and compliance with InnTrusted, Hyatt, OSHA, and applicable regulations. Ensure emergency procedures, incident reporting, safety training, chemical storage/SDS requirements, and protection of confidential information are properly managed.

COMMUNITY INVOLVEMENT

Represent Hyatt House Bozeman and InnTrusted professionally by building local relationships, participating in appropriate tourism and business organizations, and supporting community involvement that strengthens the hotel’s reputation and business.

LEADERSHIP EXPECTATIONS

The successful GM is visible, accountable, financially minded, collaborative, guest focused, team focused, detail oriented, and community minded. They take ownership of results, develop people, address problems, and work effectively with InnTrusted, Hyatt, ownership, Sales, Revenue Management, and hotel leaders.

QUALIFICATIONS

Hotel leadership experience; GM, AGM, Director of Operations, or senior department‑head experience preferred. Branded select‑service or extended‑stay experience preferred; Hyatt experience beneficial. Strong knowledge of budgeting, P&L, forecasting, labor management, revenue strategy, and hotel operations. Strong leadership, communication, organization, and problem‑solving skills. Working knowledge of Microsoft Office and hotel systems. Basic understanding of hotel engineering and preventive maintenance. High integrity and professional ethics. Ability to work a flexible schedule, respond to emergencies, and maintain a valid driver’s license.
