Job Description And Key Responsibilities The Senior Director, Neuroscience Communications & Public Affairs is accountable for shaping and leading the global communications and public affairs strategy for Johnson & Johnson Innovative Medicine’s Neuroscience portfolio. Reporting to the Vice President, Neuroscience Communications & Public Affairs, this role serves as the most senior communications counselor to Neuroscience leadership and is responsible for ensuring clear, consistent, and credible positioning across science, access, policy, and value—supporting both near‑term commercial priorities and long‑term portfolio growth. Operating as a core member of the Neuroscience Communications leadership team, and a business partner to commercial and R&D partners, this role drives strategic alignment across global, regional, and market teams and partners closely with Commercial, R&D and Enterprise functions to influence the external environment and strengthen trust with key stakeholders. Key Responsibilities Include Lead the development and execution of a comprehensive global communications strategy for the Neuroscience portfolio, aligned with Innovative Medicine business priorities and enterprise standards. Serve as the primary strategic communications advisor to Neuroscience franchise leadership, providing counsel on external positioning, risk assessment, and stakeholder engagement. Shape the global narrative for Neuroscience across disease areas, products, pipeline assets, and scientific platforms, ensuring clarity, consistency, and differentiation. Oversee communications strategy for priority launches, major data readouts, lifecycle milestones, and key growth brands, in close partnership with Launch Communications and Performance Accelerator teams. Partner with Public Affairs to support market‑shaping, policy, and advocacy strategies that enable access and improve the operating environment for Neuroscience. Guide integrated communications planning across media, issues management, scientific congresses, campaigns, and executive visibility. Align closely with regional and market communications leaders to ensure global strategy is effectively adapted and executed locally, particularly in Top 10 markets. Anticipate, assess, and manage issues and reputational risks affecting the Neuroscience portfolio, working in close coordination with Enterprise and regional teams. Build and sustain strong relationships with external stakeholders, including media, scientific experts, advocacy organizations, and policy influencers. Lead, mentor, and develop a high‑performing Neuroscience communications team, fostering collaboration, inclusion, and continuous improvement. Contribute as a senior leader within the broader Innovative Medicine Communications & Public Affairs organization, helping to elevate standards, capabilities, and impact across therapeutic areas. Qualifications – External Bachelor’s degree required; advanced degree in Communications, Journalism, Public Policy, Life Sciences, or a related field preferred Required Experience and Skills: Minimum of 15 years of professional experience in communications, public affairs, or related external engagement roles Significant experience leading communications for complex, global pharmaceutical portfolios or therapeutic areas Demonstrated ability to operate as a trusted advisor to senior business and scientific leaders Deep understanding of the biopharmaceutical environment, including commercialization, access, policy, and reputational dynamics Proven experience in issues and crisis management in a highly regulated environment Strong strategic thinking, executive presence, and influencing skills in matrixed organizations Experience leading and developing high‑performing global teams Ability to integrate enterprise, regional, and market perspectives into cohesive strategies Preferred Experience in Neuroscience or adjacent specialty disease areas Experience working closely with Public Affairs, Market Access, and Government Affairs partners Global experience across multiple regions and markets Other Up to 25–30% travel, domestic and international Required Skills Corporate Communications, Corporate Communications Design, Corporate Communications Strategy Preferred Skills Business Communications, Corporate Management, Cultural Competence, Developing Others, Government Relations, Inclusive Leadership, Leadership, Presentation Design, Public Affairs, Public Opinion, Public Policies, Public Relations (PR), Risk Measurement, Social Awareness, Stakeholder Engagement The anticipated base pay range for this position is : $178,000.00 - $307,050.00 Additional Description For Pay Transparency Subject to the terms of their respective plans, employees are eligible to participate in the Company’s consolidated retirement plan (pension) and savings plan (401(k)). This position is eligible to participate in the Company’s long‑term incentive program.
