Job Summary:
The organization is seeking a Medical Surgical Registered Nurse (RN) for a unit located in Springfield, Illinois. The candidate will be responsible for providing care to adult and geriatric patients on a 23-bed Medical Surgical unit, with a focus on neurological conditions such as stroke, traumatic brain injury, and spinal cord injury. Candidates are required to bring their Illinois nursing license on the first day of shift. The position involves night shifts starting at 6:45 PM, with scheduled hours of 12 per shift and a minimum of 36 hours per week.

Job Details:

• Position / Specialty: Medical Surgical RN / Med Surg
• Shift: Nights 6:45 PM start time, 3x12-hour shifts per week
• Schedule: Nights, minimum 36 hours per week
• Required Qualifications: Illinois nursing license; certifications in Basic Life Support (BLS) and National Institutes of Health Stroke Scale (NIHSS); a minimum of 1 year of experience; experience with starting and maintaining IVs, PICC line management, CVA (Cerebrovascular Accident) care, spinal cord injury, traumatic brain injury, and peripheral line care/management.
• Preferred Qualifications: Previous charge nurse experience; Cerner electronic medical record experience.
• Additional Information: Candidate must work at least 2 out of 3 major holidays. Candidate must be able to work within a hospital setting and float as needed within scope. Certification in BLS and NIHSS is mandatory, and only American Heart Association (AHA) and Red Cross certifications are accepted (RQI cards are not accepted). All credentialing, module completion, and background checks must be completed prior to start.
