Recruitment Number 25-297TO, Family Court Attorney, SR-26 Step D ($6,535 per month) to SR-26 Step L ($8,945 per month), Kapolei, Oahu. *The starting salary may be at a rate between the minimum to maximum salary range listed above, based on qualifications.* This position provides legal and policy support to the Family Courts statewide. It serves as a legal advisor to the Board of Senior Family Court Judges and Directors, conducting legal research, drafting opinions, and developing policies and procedures to ensure statewide consistency. The position also coordinates legislative efforts for the Family Courts, including drafting bills and testimony, monitoring and analyzing legislation, disseminating updates, responding to legislative inquiries, and implementing new laws through policy and form development. Additionally, it assists with revising and updating the Hawai‘i Family Court Rules and serves as the First Circuit Family Court Custodian of Records. The duties also include responding to subpoenas duces tecum in coordination with the Deputy Attorney General, assisting with updates to the Hawai‘i Family Court Records Retention Policy, and advising staff on compliance. Education Requirement Graduation from an accredited school of law. Experience Requirement One (1) year of work experience in the satisfactory performance of duties in legal research and writing, litigation, review of and drafting of legislation, review of new laws for impact of court requirements, and development of policies, procedures, and legal forms to implement new laws. One (1) year of experience in a family court setting or litigating in family court proceedings that includes familiarity with and understanding of issues relating to family court processes and procedures, knowledge of various court rules, policies and procedures, and responsibility for managing confidential, complex, jurisdictional, and controversial issues. License Requirement Active license to practice law in all courts of the State of Hawaii.
