The first Apache raids on Sonora appear to have taken place during the late 17th century. The U.S. Army, in their various confrontations, found them to be fierce warriors and skillful strategists. The Jicarilla Apache Nation is located in the scenic mountains and rugged mesas of northern New Mexico near the Colorado border. There are approximately 2,755 tribal members, most of whom live in the town of Dulce. Nomadic in nature until just before European contact, the Jicarilla tribe established trade with Taos and Picurís pueblos. They wandered and traded as far east as Kansas until they settled deep in the northern Sangre de Cristo Mountains in the mid-1720s. The Jicarilla Apache Nation is world-renowned for its hunting, fishing, camping, boating and hiking opportunities. The tribe maintains Horse Lake Mesa Game Park, the largest single elk enclosure in the country at 14,500 acres. Black bears and mountain lions roam freely throughout the nation. Dulce, New Mexico is located right on the Colorado-New Mexico border. It's a quaint town, with a population just under 3,000. It's the tribal headquarters of the Jicarilla Apache Reservation. It's also the alleged location of a secret underground alien base which is not a story related to this position. Life in Dulce offers a rural feel with a very affordable cost of living.Position Overview The Optometrist shall provide professional optometry direct patient care services as follows:Work under the general technical guidance of the FCRHC Chief Medical Officer (or his designee) and the Chief of Optometry.Optometry staff members shall be subject to Medical Staff Ongoing Professional Practice Evaluation and Focused Provider Performance Evaluation as specified in the Shiprock Service Unit Policy & Procedure, Focused Provider Performance & Ongoing Professional Practice Evaluation.The Optometrist shall provide direct care to patients to include: patient evaluation, diagnostic testing, clinical management, diagnostic and therapeutic procedures, pharmacotherapy and consultation with/referral to appropriate specialty services, as needed.The Optometrist shall serve as a consultant to physicians, nurses, and other staff as well as other community agencies and service providers, as needed.Shall complete appropriate medical records for all patients seen to document pertinent clinical data necessary to provide comprehensive eye care; complete clinical reports and correspondence concerning patients under his/her care to physicians, hospitals, and other individuals and facilities in a timely fashion. Clinical data reports for the records of each patient shall be maintained in compliance with JCAHO standards.Shall provide direct patient care services and appropriate, timely medical services under the terms of this contract in accordance with the PWS PCP FCRHC SEPT 2017 9 standards of care established by recognized medical care organizations and in accordance with policies and procedures of Service Unit's Medical Staff Bylaws, Rules and Regulations, including attendance at department and staff meetings.Requirements:Doctoral of Optometry Degree from a school accredited by the Accreditation Council on Optometric Education (ACOE)Active unrestricted Optometrist License in any U.S. State or Territory that allows for treatment of glaucomaTherapeutic Pharmaceutical Agents (TPA) and Diagnostic Pharmaceutical Agents (DPA) certifiedMust have a minimum of 12 months experience providing direct clinical care in the preceding two yearsKurzSolutions is committed to improving health outcomes by providing well-managed companies with the top healthcare talent in the market.
