Women's Services/OB Triage Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant

Ascension Seton is looking for an NP or PA, FT, Women's Services/OB Triage to join our elite team!

As an NP/PA in OB/Gyn ED with Ascension. You will see and evaluate patients in the OB Triage setting for things to include: labor, preterm labor, rupture of membranes or any complications of pregnancy. You will see patients 16 weeks to 6 weeks postpartum. You will be in charge of triaging patients based on acuity and greatest need and will be supported by the on-call physician for the patients' private practice or the team of OB residents. You will also be a part of teaching the Dell Seton interns how to adequately triage a patient, quickly and efficiently as one of their first year resident education goals. The goal of this service is to be able to identify in a timely manner if a patient needs hospital admission or discharge to home without occupying Labor and Antepartum rooms on the floor.

Position Highlights:

• Separate OB/GYN Emergency Department
• Ultrasound training with Maternal Fetal Medicine
• Occasional postpartum rounding

Responsibilities:

• Obtains patient history and performs assessment via observation, interview and examination. Orders, performs and interprets diagnostic studies. Performs preventative health assessments, screening, immunizations and patient care.
• Provides direct treatment and management of health conditions via referral to other healthcare providers or community resources.
• Counsels and educates patients and their families/caregivers concerning preventative health, treatment options and community resources.
• Documents delivery of health care and nursing processes in accordance with specific specialty area standards and network nursing policy.

What minimum requirements you'll need:

• Licensure / Certification / Registration:
• Nurse Practitioner credentialed from the Texas Board of Nursing obtained prior to hire date or job transfer date required.
• Licensed Registered Nurse credentialed from the Texas Board of Nursing obtained prior to hire date or job transfer date required.
• BLS Provider preferred. American Heart Association or American Red Cross accepted.
• Drug Enforcement Admin credentialed from the Drug Enforcement Administration preferred.
• Education:
• Master's degree of Nursing required.
