ICU Registered Nurse (RN)We are seeking a dedicated and skilled ICU Registered Nurse to join our dynamic team. This role is essential in providing high-quality care to patients in the Intensive Care Unit.Job DetailsUnit: ICU (Intensive Care Unit)Shift Length: 12 hoursGuaranteed Hours: 36 hours per weekScheduling: Self-scheduling with 30-45 days advance noticeWeekend Requirements: Every other or 4 weekend shifts in 4 weeksHoliday Requirements: Participation in the permanent staff rotationQualificationsExperience: Minimum of 2 years in an ICU setting, preferably with experience in smaller ICUsCertifications: Current ACLS, BLS Certification, and NIHSS; dysrhythmia certification through AHA is required (can be done online)Preferred Certifications: PALS and TNCCSkills: Ability to promptly integrate into the team environment, strong teamwork, and effective communication skills. Cerner experience preferred but not mandatory.Patient Care ResponsibilitiesThis position involves caring for a diverse patient population, including:Sepsis patientsMedical-surgical patientsPatients with DKA, CHF, and COPDMost patients are borderline stepdown and require extensive monitoring and care. Registered Nurses will be responsible for titrating drips including Levo, heparin, insulin, and dopamine.Clinical Support and Team StructureNurse/Patient Ratio: 1:1-2 (2-3 nurses on per shift)Support Staff: Unit clerk present; no nurse aidsRespiratory Therapy: Available in-house 24/7 with the capacity to take patient assignmentsMonitoring: Telemetry monitored by technicians; RNs are required to read their own strips using Phillips monitorsOrientation and TrainingNew hires will undergo 2-3 shifts of unit-specific orientation to ensure a smooth integration into the team and facility culture.Floating RequirementsFloating to other units may occur rarely, typically to medical-surgical units with a patient ratio of 1:5.
