You'll contribute to architectural decisions, bringing product requirements and business context into the conversation. We operate a microservices-based SaaS platform on AWS and conduct a significant share of our business through APIs. What you’d be doing: Collaborate with product managers and stakeholders to craft innovative capabilities in our API products, enabling the building blocks of new customer experiences. Design and implement modern Java services that connect our platform to integration partners, powering dynamic and user-friendly experiences. Make high-level technical and architectural decisions to ensure our solutions are secure, reliable, and scalable as we grow. Own features end-to-end from technical design and implementation through testing, deployment, and production monitoring. Make well-reasoned design decisions and tradeoffs in your domain, authoring technical design documents, API documentation, and architectural proposals. Develop testing suites and validation strategies including integration tests, to deliver complex outcomes while maintaining high software quality. Mentor other engineers through code reviews, pair programming, and design discussions to foster a culture of excellence and collaboration. Expand and evolve our integration strategy, connecting third-party contractor networks, service providers, and our internal underwriting systems. We’re looking for someone who has: Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or equivalent professional experience. 5+ years of experience building and deploying software applications. Strong experience with Java and modern Java tooling for backend development. A proven track record of designing scalable, secure APIs and integration solutions. Experience mentoring and guiding engineering teams. Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to collaborate across teams. A proactive, curious mindset with a passion for building technology that makes a tangible difference. Highly preferred candidates also have: Experience working in Insurtech or Fintech environments. Experience with Temporal workflow orchestration.
