Nurse PACU

Job Summary & Responsibilities As our Post Anesthesia Care Unit (PACU) Nurse at Mercy Gilbert Medical Center, you will lead the assessment of patient and family health needs, develop and implement comprehensive nursing care plans, and provide professional nursing care for acutely ill patients across all ages in our dynamic perioperative department. Daily tasks include reviewing consent forms, answering questions about procedures, conducting preoperative assessments, preparing patients for surgery, acting as patient advocate, recognizing and responding to changes in patient condition, and utilizing SBAR format for physician notification. You will manage bedside nurse-to-nurse reports and handle medication administration as directed by physicians. Your role requires critical care knowledge, strong communication skills, and basic computer proficiency. You will engage and motivate staff, manage change, assume accountability, and effectively utilize resources within a shift-based call structure. Responsibilities Prepare patients for surgical procedures Administer medications as directed by physicians Develop and implement nursing care plans for surgical patients Demonstrate a high level of compassion for patients Organize and prioritize patient care activities balanced with the needs and comfort of the patient Requirements One (1) year RN experience within Critical Care (ICU, Telemetry, ER) AZ RN license or RN license from a Compact State Current American Heart Association BLS certification American Heart Association ACLS certification within 30 days American Heart Association PALS certification within 6 months Preferred Strong cardiac and hemodynamic monitoring skills BSN degree One (1) year post anesthesia care experience Knowledge of surgical procedures with a critical care (surgical) background; pediatric experience helpful Benefits Education Benefit program for benefit‑eligible employees after 180 days, providing up to $18,000 over five years for full‑time employees or up to $9,000 for part‑time employees Pay Range $35.00 – $58.63 /hour #J-18808-Ljbffr Dignity Health
