The Hotel Prep Cook plays a crucial role in the kitchen by ensuring that all ingredients and supplies are prepared and ready for use by the culinary team. This position supports the smooth operation of food service by performing essential tasks such as washing, chopping, and measuring ingredients, as well as maintaining cleanliness and organization in the prep area. The Prep Cook contributes to the overall quality and efficiency of meal preparation, helping to deliver consistent and timely dishes to customers. Attention to detail and adherence to food safety standards are vital to prevent contamination and ensure a safe dining experience. Ultimately, the Prep Cook helps create a foundation that allows chefs and cooks to focus on cooking and plating meals to the highest standards.

Minimum Qualifications:

• Knowledge of food preparation and kitchen safety standards.
• Ability to follow instructions and work efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
• Physical ability to stand for extended periods and perform repetitive tasks.
• Legal authorization to work in the United States.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Previous experience in a food service or kitchen environment.
• Food Handler’s Certification or ServSafe certification.
• Familiarity with kitchen equipment and culinary terminology.
• Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
• Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team.

Responsibilities:

• Prepare ingredients by washing, peeling, chopping, and measuring according to recipes and instructions.
• Assist chefs and cooks by organizing and stocking the prep area with necessary supplies and ingredients.
• Maintain cleanliness and sanitation of workstations, utensils, and kitchen equipment in compliance with health regulations.
• Follow all food safety and hygiene protocols to ensure a safe and sanitary kitchen environment.

Skills:

The Prep Cook uses their skills daily to prepare ingredients accurately and efficiently, ensuring that chefs have what they need to create dishes on time. Attention to detail is essential when measuring and cutting ingredients to maintain consistency and quality. Knowledge of food safety and sanitation practices is applied continuously to prevent contamination and maintain a clean work environment.
