Leave And Accommodations Consultant

Job Description The Leave and Accommodations Consultant serves as the primary point of contact for employees navigating leaves of absence and workplace accommodations. This role manages end-to-end leave and accommodation cases, ensures compliance with federal, state, and local regulations, and delivers a consistent, positive employee experience. The consultant partners closely with third‑party leave vendors, internal HR, Payroll, and Benefits teams, and contributes to process and operational improvements across the leave and accommodations function. Responsibilities Administer end‑to‑end leave of absence cases, including FMLA and other statutory leaves, in partnership with third‑party leave administration vendors. Ensure all leave cases comply with federal, state, and local regulations and internal policies. Serve as a knowledgeable point of contact for employees and managers regarding leave processes, timelines, documentation requirements, and return‑to‑work planning. Provide clear guidance and support to employees and leaders on accommodation requests, including complex situations such as remote work, gray‑area business needs, and non‑standard limitations or restrictions. Partner with vendors and internal teams, including Payroll, Benefits, and People Business Partners, to resolve eligibility questions, escalations, and timing or pay‑related issues. Monitor leave and accommodation cases to ensure accurate data, timely processing, and adherence to service level agreements. Track and report on leave and accommodation metrics, trends, and operational performance to support compliance and continuous improvement. Develop and maintain leave and accommodations playbooks, templates, job aids, and training materials to support consistent practices and a high‑quality employee experience. Contribute to process improvement initiatives and operational enhancements related to leave and accommodations. Participate in cross‑functional projects such as vendor optimization, payroll integration, audits, and compliance reviews. Support ad‑hoc projects related to HR operations, leave management, accommodations, and integrations as needed. Collaborate closely with business leaders and HR partners to address complex leave and accommodation scenarios in a thoughtful, compliant, and employee‑focused manner. Essential Skills At least 4+ years of experience in leave and accommodations as a primary responsibility, not as a minor portion of broader HR work. Hands‑on experience in HR operations, leave management, or accommodation programs. Strong knowledge of federal disability laws and compliance requirements, including ADA, FMLA, and Title VII. Demonstrated ability to manage high‑volume, complex leave and accommodation cases with strong organizational skills. Experience working with third‑party leave vendors and understanding how to coordinate and manage vendor relationships. Proficiency with Microsoft Office tools for documentation, reporting, and communication. Strong verbal and written communication skills, with experience working closely with business leaders and employees. High attention to detail and accuracy in case management, documentation, and reporting. Customer‑focused mindset with the ability to support employees with empathy while maintaining compliance and consistency. Additional Skills & Qualifications Bachelor’s degree combined with 4+ years of leave administration experience is preferred. Experience in big tech, fintech, banking, or the financial industry is highly desirable. Familiarity with HRIS systems, particularly Workday and ServiceNow, or comparable software tools. Understanding of payroll processes and integrations related to leave and accommodations is a plus. Experience working with accommodation programs in a technology or corporate environment, including navigating remote work, business needs, and complex or non‑standard limitations and restrictions. Experience in human resources administration, including leave management and accommodations. Experience supporting process improvement and continuous improvement initiatives in HR or leave operations. Ability to collaborate effectively within a distributed team, including colleagues in multiple locations. Strong problem‑solving skills and the ability to handle escalations and sensitive employee situations with professionalism. Work Environment This role operates within modern, state‑of‑the‑art corporate office facilities in North Austin, with access to on‑site snacks and amenities that create an engaging and comfortable workplace. The typical schedule follows a hybrid model, with in‑office work on Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday, and remote work on Monday and Friday. You will collaborate closely with a dedicated Accommodations Team consisting of analysts and contractors, as well as a Leave of Absence Team with team members based in Austin and Bangalore. The environment emphasizes collaboration, continuous improvement, and cross‑functional partnership with HR, Payroll, Benefits, and technology teams. The position is currently structured as a 5‑month assignment, with potential for extension or conversion not yet determined. Job Type & Location Contract position based in Austin, TX. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $26.00 – $34.50 per hour. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
