Your Impact We are looking for a Senior Hydraulic Modeler to join our team in Chicago, IL. You will engage in project assignments serving municipal, federal, industrial, and other clients. Your work will span a wide variety of tasks both independently and with peers throughout the company, including interfacing with our Market Solutions group and collaborating with subject‑matter experts across Jacobs. As the primary hydraulic‑modeling expert, you will support multiple projects locally and globally, driving professional and personal growth in a diverse, fast‑paced environment. Key Responsibilities Development, calibration, and interpretation of water distribution, wastewater, and stormwater models Use models to evaluate system performance and support design of improvements and enhancements Evaluate, select, and apply advanced engineering and modeling standards and techniques Perform master‑planning and conceptual studies using models Conduct sewer evaluation studies, including RDII analysis and flow‑monitoring program development Model water quality and transient phenomena Develop hydraulic profiles for water and wastewater treatment facilities, including design inputs and coordination for conveyance to state‑of‑the‑art plants Engage in programming, statistical analysis, and data research Analyze, manage, and interpret data with ArcGIS software Apply project‑management skills to propose, plan, execute, monitor, and close projects effectively Produce technical writing and client presentations that distill complex information into clear, actionable messages Participate in global technical communities of practice (collection system modeling, distribution system modeling, wet‑weather management, stormwater, system optimization) Conduct QA/QC of models, reports, and deliverables Present findings at local and national professional organizations (e.g., WEF, IWEA, CSWEA) Required Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in Civil or Environmental Engineering 6+ years of professional experience in hydraulic modeling In‑depth knowledge of modeling software such as InfoWorks ICM, PCSWMM, EPA SWMM, and EPANET Understanding of hydraulic systems and modeling outputs Working knowledge of GIS tools (ArcGIS) Strong teamwork and communication skills, both internally and externally Active involvement in mentoring and professional development (of self and others) Proficiency in writing technical reports that convey key messages simply and clearly Effective verbal and written communication with clients and geographically dispersed project staff via online platforms Preferred Qualifications Graduate degree in Civil or Environmental Engineering Professional Engineer (PE) license in Illinois or ability to obtain via comity Experience in conveyance and/or pump design Programming experience with Python (GIS scripting) and Visual Basic for Excel Benefits and Compensation Our benefits program includes medical, dental, vision, and basic life insurance, a 401(k) plan, and a company‑stock purchase option. The base salary range for this position is $110,000.00 to $175,000.00, based on location and additional factors such as skills, experience, and education.
