For this High School Math Long Term Substitute Teacher position, you'll be working for our high school in north Philadelphia called TECH Freire Charter School (9th-12th Grade): Freire Schools' established rigorous college-prep high school program is infused with technology and entrepreneurship education to unlock creativity and potential in our students. We have a culture that demands excellence from our students while providing them the supports they need to achieve at high levels and prepare for college. TECH Freire's Class of 2025 included 88 graduates, with 89% accepted to four-year colleges and universities. What you'll do

As a member of Freire's instructional team, you will implement high-quality, standards-aligned curriculum to drive rigorous instruction, critical thinking, and high achievement in your classroom, while remaining open to feedback and instructional coaching.

*This position begins in December and runs through March with the potential for longer term opportunities based on fit and position availability. 

• Teach Math Analysis (Algebra I) and Statistics
• Foster a classroom environment grounded in critical thinking, academic rigor, mutual respect, and high expectations for all students.
• Implement high-quality, content-specific curriculum and design instructional materials that promote deep thinking and problem-solving.
• Maintain consistent, proactive communication with families regarding student progress and relevant school updates.
• Engage fully in professional development and collaborate closely with colleagues to best support student learning and growth.
• Teachers hired at Freire Charter High School (20th & Chestnut St.) have the opportunity to be CREW Leaders and will co-lead a class focusing on SEL and community building twice a week.

• Bachelor's degree required
• Valid state teaching certification, or a clear ability and commitment to obtain certification
• Strong content-area knowledge and instructional skill
• Positive, solution-oriented mindset with a work ethic and collaborative spirit
• Minimum of two years of successful experience working with diverse student populations

Salaries for certified teachers entering their first year start at $60,000, with an overall salary range of $50,000–$85,000 based on experience and qualifications.
