Registered Dietitian

Duties Include: Integrate the food and nutrition aspects of resident care through communication with the medical and nursing staff. Follow regulations for completing the Minimum Data Set (MDS) as appropriate. Contribute pertinent information to resident care plans and record appropriate assessments, screens, and progress notes in the resident's medical record. Provide nutritional counseling and diet education to residents and their families. Implement diet changes, modify menus and food preferences in food service software as needed. Assist the department in reinforcing policies, procedures, and training for dietary employees as needed. Attend and participate in resident care plan meetings and develop appropriate integrated care plans. Observe and advise on food preparation and meal rounds as needed. Assist in cost control, food preparation and service, and staffing of the department as needed. Help the department make routine evaluations to ensure compliance with local, state, and federal regulations. Advise the physician and nursing supervisor when diet changes or nutritional supplements are necessary. Ensure that physician diet orders are followed for each resident. Communicate additional diet changes to production staff that affect amounts and type of food preparation. Supervise the work of the kitchen and supervisors as needed. Attend administrative staff/department meetings. Requirements Include: Bachelor of Science Degree with a major in Clinical Dietetics. Preferably Registered Dietitian (RD or RDN) and/or Certified Dietitian of New York (CDN), 1+ year experience (will train the right candidate). Member of the Academy of Nutrition & Dietetics. Preferred Skills & Abilities: Working knowledge of issues related to food and nutrition. Enthusiastic with great interpersonal skills.
