Assistant Manager

JOB OBJECTIVE :

The Assistant Manager supports safe, efficient, and profitable store operations in the Store Manager's absence, with a strong focus on driving sales, delivering excellent customer service, supervising employees, and ensuring compliance with company policies and safety standards. Reporting to the Store Manager, This role is expected to lead by example with an upbeat, customer-focused approach, actively promote store products and services, build customer loyalty, maintain merchandising standards, and create a clean, welcoming, and sales-driven environment.

QUALIFICATIONS :

1. Prior retail leadership experience preferred, with the ability and drive to develop into a Store Manager.
2. Strong sales focus with the ability to coach employees, promote products, and increase customer purchases.
3. Excellent customer service, communication, cash handling, and basic computer skills.
4. Ability to supervise employees, enforce policies, and maintain a safe, compliant work environment.
5. Must be flexible and available to work shifts opposite the Store Manager, including weekends, evenings, and changing business needs.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS :

1. Lead store operations in the Store Manager's absence, ensuring the store is customer-ready, secure, and operating efficiently.
2. Drive sales by promoting fuel, car wash, food, beverage, tobacco, and other retail products while coaching employees to upsell and provide exceptional service.
3. Deliver a high level of customer service by maintaining product availability, store cleanliness, merchandising standards, and fast, friendly service.
4. Ensure compliance with company policies, including alcohol and tobacco sales, cash handling, inventory controls, and end-of-day procedures.
5. Promote and enforce safety standards for employees and customers, including sanitation, food handling, equipment checks, and incident prevention.
6. Train, coach, and hold employees accountable for performance, policy compliance, and customer service expectations.
7. Work a schedule that complements the Store Manager's hours to provide leadership coverage across key shifts and weekends.
8. Support Store Manager in capacity as well as customer service team members in their capacity as needed.

Working Conditions :

Must be available to work various shifts, extended hours, weekends, and schedule changes based on business needs. This position is expected to work shifts opposite the Store Manager to ensure leadership coverage across the operating day. The role requires exposure to indoor and outdoor temperatures, hot equipment, cleaning chemicals, and other conditions common to a convenience store and fueling environment.

• Ability to lift 50 pounds
• Must be able to stand on your feet in a confined space for hours.
• Ability to work in a fast paced environment while maintaining a high level of energy.
