Christiana Care Oncology at Union is looking for a detail-oriented, adaptable, and highly organized Medical Office Assistant I with strong communication skills and the ability to proactively solve problems in a fast-paced environment.

The ChristianaCare Oncology at Union is in Elkton, Maryland. Oncology at Union offers advanced cancer care, including screening and detection services for common cancers like breast, colon, skin, and prostate.

Our services include:

Screening & Detection for common cancers such as breast, colon, skin, and prostate.

Inpatient & Outpatient Care delivered at Union Hospital and in collaboration with ChristianaCare's Helen F. Graham Cancer Center & Research Institute and Radiation Oncology specialists.

Infusion Therapy Center providing chemotherapy, biotherapy, IV antibiotics, blood transfusions, and therapeutic injections.

Cancer Resource Center offering education and volunteer support throughout treatment.

Our programs are staffed by oncology-certified nurses, with infusion center nurses additionally certified in chemotherapy and biotherapy. A dedicated social worker assists patients and families with resources, insurance guidance, and support groups. The Medical Office Assistant I schedules appointments with attention to insurance, greets patients while collecting necessary information, and processes referrals while maintaining confidentiality.

Monday through Friday: 8am to 4:30pm

Duties / Responsibilities:

The Medical Office Assistant I handles payments, verifies insurance coverage, coordinates referrals, and reconciles daily appointments and payments. They manage communications by answering calls, relaying messages, and using EMR systems to coordinate with providers and staff. The role includes updating patients, scheduling tests and appointments, maintaining medical records, resolving patient issues, supporting administrative tasks, and following safety protocols, with additional duties as needed.

Position Qualifications:

High School Graduate or GED required.

Experience in a medical office setting is preferred but not required.

Hourly Pay Range: $17.67 - $25.62 This pay rate/range represents ChristianaCare's good faith and reasonable estimate of compensation at the time of posting. The actual salary within this range offered to a successful candidate will depend on individual factors including without limitation skills, relevant experience, and qualifications as they relate to specific job requirements.
