Clinical Social Worker

Responsibilities Clinical Social Worker for the Counseling, Alcohol and Other Drug Assistance Program & Psychiatric Services within Rutgers Student Health. The community‑based counselor functions as a "meso practitioner," coordinating assessment, collaborative partnerships, community‑based prevention, and offering clinical care as needed to Rutgers New Brunswick students in designated campus departments and areas. Assesses community needs and delivers community‑based prevention, education, post‑vision, workshops, and consultation for faculty/staff consistent with community‑based needs. Conducts surveys of faculty, staff, and students to evaluate the utility, scope, and outcomes of embedded meso practice services. Designs relevant programs to meet community needs. Works with HOPE and RSH Marketing to advertise availability of services and programs. Meets with student groups and campus stakeholders to develop constructive contexts for referrals and increase community awareness of services. Offers supportive, creative, educational, data‑driven, evidence‑based programs consistent with prevention, education, and post‑vision needs of the community. Works with other campus partners to develop responses to critical events on campus; gathers data and provides ongoing feedback and reports to RSH/CAPS Quality Committee for program development. Provides mental health support for students in designated departments/locations across campus and cultivates referrals from faculty, staff, and students. Offers clinical care including initial consultations, guidance and support, problem‑focused mental health treatment, consultation, and linkages to other campus partners and community services. Updates CAPS referral database and participates in after‑hours on‑call and critical‑event support teams as needed. Collaborates with and supports the learning of social work trainees in delivery of community‑based services. Salary Minimum: $82,166; Mid Range: $104,002; Maximum: $125,837.The final salary offer may be influenced by qualifications, experience, and departmental or grant funds. Certifications/Licenses New Jersey Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) or Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC). Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Experience with evidence‑based, culture‑centered, structured treatments for common concerns of university students. Familiarity with developmental issues of college students. Sensitivity and skill in working with diverse students, staff, and faculty. Proficient in assessing suicide risk and developing safety plans. Understanding of the needs of diverse students across multiple dimensions of identity. Knowledge of collaborative, hierarchical communication in a healthcare environment. Commitment to the mission of CAPS within the broader university community. Ability to initiate positive change and manage ambiguity. Strong work ethic, positive attitude, and accountability. Ability to handle confidential communication appropriately. Commitment to continuous improvement of processes and services. Preferred Qualifications Bilingual – Spanish/English speaking. Specialized experience with students of color, LGBTQ community, first‑generation or marginalised populations. Experience with team building, conflict resolution. Training in threat assessment and management in higher education. Credentials to supervise social‑work trainees. Valid driver’s license helpful for occasional campus travel. Commitment to student‑centered, equity‑focused practice and dismantling systemic inequity.
