Full time and part-time opportunities available Position Summary The Vertical Transportation (VT) Inspector at Ascend Consulting Group is a critical role, leading Vertical Transportation Field Inspections and Surveys to assess safety, reliability, compliance, and optimization of vertical transportation systems. As a technical expert in vertical transportation, the VT Inspector has responsibility for VT inspections, assessments, reporting, and recommendations. Essential Duties and Responsibilities The essential functions include, but are not limited to the following: General Take pride in work, show up every day with integrity, striving for excellence Effectively collaborate with diverse teams and partners, including Ascend team, clients, contractors Knowledge Maintain knowledge of standard testing devices and methods to ensure equipment operation meets established requirements Maintain and act on mechanical and electrical principles as applied to VP Interpret and act on technical material, including code references; equipment instructions and plans. Stay current with VT safety regulations and code changes Field Conduct all work operations in accordance with established safety practices, ensuring all work is completed without hazard to self or others. Detect possible defects and faults in equipment fabrication, testing, installations, maintenance, operation, and site appropriate remedial measures per Jurisdictional requirements. Apply code requirements and related standards in accordance with state, local, and national regulations, as well as department policies. Perform assessments of elevators, escalators, and other VT systems to ensure compliance with safety regulations and codes. Perform Periodic Inspections and Witness Category 1 & 5 VT Tests Document all findings and recommend corrective actions to address any identified safety hazards or code violations Maintain accurate records and complete inspection reports on all witnessed inspections performed. Communicate counsel, findings, recommendations, with technical accuracy in clear, concise manner. Coordinate work schedules with elevator service companies/technicians to ensure maximum operational efficiency. Minimum Qualifications (Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities) NYC DOB Inspector credentials (mandatory) A NYS Dept. of Labor License (mandatory) Strong attention to detail and the ability to identify potential safety hazards Compensation: Compensation will be determined based on the candidate’s experience and qualifications.
