Join us as a 2nd Line Support Engineer at our site in Malvern, where you will have the opportunity to work with cutting-edge technology in partnership with some of the most brilliant minds.The RoleAs an L2 Service Support Engineer you will be part of a highly technical, cross functional team providing support engineering as a service across multiple services and products lines within the QinetiQ managed service portfolio. Focusing exclusively on Customer it, this role forms a vital component of the UKI Service Operations support model. You will be working on a variety of infrastructures, tooling, software and hardware and bespoke systems with exposure to new emerging technologies.Day-to-day, you'll provide technical support, incident resolution, system maintenance and change implementation while working closely with customers, vendors and internal engineering teams. You'll help maintain the availability, security and performance of critical systems operating within a highly secure environment.Your responsibilities will include:Resolving incidents and service requests across a broad range of IT services and technologiesSupporting system administration, maintenance, patching and configuration activitiesWorking closely with customers, third-party suppliers and internal support teams to ensure timely issue resolutionImplementing technical changes in accordance with established change management processesProducing accurate technical documentation, reports and operational proceduresWillingness to be part of the outside hours rotaEssential experience of the 2nd Line Support Engineer: At least 3 years' experience in an IT Support, Infrastructure Support or 2nd Line Support roleExperience administering and troubleshooting Windows and/or Linux environmentsStrong understanding of networking fundamentals including TCP/IP, DNS, routing, switching and firewallsExperience patching, maintaining and supporting enterprise systems and infrastructureExperience using ITSM and Service Desk tools within an ITIL-aligned environmentUnderstanding of cloud computing concepts and modern IT operational practicesEssential qualifications for the 2nd Line Support Engineer:Current DV clearance preferred Minimum of 3 years' professional IT support experienceExperience working within highly secure or restricted environmentsWe value difference and we don’t have a fixed idea when it comes to background or education, provided you can show the required level of experience and willingness to learn then we would like to hear from you.This role is 37 hours per week based at our Malvern site with a minimum average site attendance of three days per week. The Malvern facility is noted for its work in electronic warfare, surveillance and complex system integration, contributing significantly to the UK’s defence capabilities.
