Hospitalist Physician (MD/DO)

VEA Health is seeking a full-time Hospitalist Physician (MD/DO) to join a growing inpatient program at DeTar Hospital Navarro in Victoria, Texas. This is a high-volume hospitalist opportunity in a Level III Trauma Center with strong specialty support, APP collaboration, and an established inpatient infrastructure.

• 189-bed acute care hospital
• Level III Trauma Center

Patient Volume

• Annual hospitalist encounters: 27,000
• Average daily hospitalist visits: 74
• Average encounters per clinician: 18 per day

Schedule & Coverage

• Day Shift (7:00 AM – 7:00 PM):
  • 2 Hospitalist Physicians
  • 2 Advanced Practice Providers (APPs)
• Night Shift (7:00 PM – 7:00 AM):
  • 1 Hospitalist Physician or
  • 1 APP
• Dedicated Discharge Navigator APP support:
  • Monday–Friday
  • 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM (40 hours/week)

Clinical Support

• Open ICU with Pulmonary/Critical Care (PCCM) available for consultation
• Teleneurology support available in the Emergency Department for emergent neurological cases
• Strong multidisciplinary specialty support including:
  • General & Trauma Surgery
  • Cardiology
  • Gastroenterology
  • Nephrology
  • Obstetrics
  • Oncology
  • Pediatrics
  • Pulmonology
  • Plastic Surgery
  • Neonatology
  • Urology

Responsibilities

• Manage inpatient hospitalist service
• Respond to Code Blue events
• Onsite coverage required for the duration of scheduled shifts
• No procedures required
