2027 - 2028 Audiology Externship Opportunity

Loma Linda University Faculty Medical Group – Division of Audiology is seeking 1–2 motivated 4th‑year audiology externs for 2027, with the possibility of continued employment upon successful completion of the externship. Responsibilities Conduct adult and pediatric outpatient and inpatient audiologic evaluations. Perform Brainstem Auditory Evoked Response (BAER) testing under natural sleep and anesthesia. Assist with cochlear implant evaluations, initial stimulations, mapping, and rehabilitation follow‑ups. Provide hearing aid evaluations, fittings, and follow‑ups, including standard amplification and implantable/non‑implantable bone‑conduction devices. Assist with Videonystagmography (VNG) testing. Participate in routine clinical duties such as tympanometry, otoacoustic emissions, vestibular assessments, and hearing aid dispensing and selection. Engage in research projects and self‑motivated research opportunities as available. Attend ongoing continuing education events, manufacturer meetings, and CEU seminars to stay current on protocols and technology updates. Completion of 3 years of a doctoral program in Audiology. Eligibility for ASHA certification. Hearing Aid Dispensing trainee licensure from the State of California within 3 months of hire. License eligibility: RPE, State of California. Strong time‑management and communication skills. Proficiency in masking during diagnostic evaluations. Exposure to BAER testing, hearing aids, bone‑anchored hearing devices, and cochlear implants is preferred. Spanish speaking preferred but not required. Benefits & Compensation Hourly rate approximately $31/hour with benefits. Accrued vacation days. Continuing education opportunities and CEU events. Clinical experience in a diverse, fast‑paced clinic. Logistics Start date: 6/1/27 (flexible). Expected hours: 5 days per week. Travel to satellite centers: not required. Local students preferred.
