Senior Manager, Congress Strategy & Operations

Senior Manager, Congress Strategy & Operations will report to the Director, Strategic Marketing & Operations, leading the successful end-to-end planning, management, coordination, and execution of global and U.S. oncology and hematology congresses. This role delivers exceptional congress experiences for internal stakeholders and external customers while ensuring alignment with business objectives, compliance standards, and budget expectations. Key Responsibilities Orchestrate the full congress planning lifecycle: Plan, coordinate, manage, and deliver events end-to-end—before, during, and after execution—on time, within budget, and to the highest standards; manage multiple conferences simultaneously. Lead the planning and execution of commercial U.S. and global congress activities for Genmab Brand Marketing teams and Global Medical Affairs (GMA), partnering closely with cross‑functional stakeholders to define congress requirements, develop tactical and logistical plans, manage exhibit booth design, coordinate planning and pre‑con meetings, and oversee hotel logistics and ancillary events. Develop end‑to‑end congress project and milestone plans to ensure deliverables and deadlines are clearly outlined for engagement with cross‑functional partners. Engage cross‑functionally with business leaders to shape event strategies that reflect enterprise priorities, leveraging therapeutic area expertise to provide high‑impact, actionable congress planning guidance. Build and manage strong relationships with multiple partnering vendors to ensure seamless collaboration on booth design, objectives, budgets, hotel logistics, and attendee engagement strategies. Collaborate with finance on financial tracking and reconciliation, monitoring deposits, ensuring invoice accuracy, managing post‑event reconciliation and chargebacks, creating purchase orders, and year‑end accruals. Own budget for annual congress brand planning, long‑range forecasting, and quarterly budget reconciliation, ensuring budgets stay on track without over‑ or underspend. Negotiate contracts with associations and vendor partners to secure favorable business outcomes. Ensure all programs comply with Genmab policies and procedures through collaboration with regulatory, legal, and compliance teams. Manage Veeva congress booth submissions in partnership with medical/legal/regulatory reviewers. Maintain professionalism and foster positive working relationships while managing condensed timelines and multiple priorities. Travel domestically and internationally up to 15–20% to select congresses as needed, including occasional weekend and evening hours. Work Arrangement This role offers flexibility to work away from the office for 20–40% of a typical schedule. Employees may use this work schedule in increments of single days or multiple consecutive days, provided it does not exceed 40% within a 60‑day period, and is approved by the hiring manager. Requirements Bachelor's degree required. Previous oncology/hematology experience preferred. Minimum of 5 years’ experience in congress planning, strategy, and operational logistics within the pharmaceutical industry. Strong project management and strategic operations experience required. Robust financial planning, budget management, and long‑range fiscal forecasting experience necessary. General understanding of the healthcare/pharmaceutical landscape, including legal, regulatory, and compliance considerations; familiarity with PhRMA guidelines and the Sunshine Act. Demonstrated ability to manage challenging situations and lead positive change. Proven ability to collaborate effectively and move initiatives from concept through execution. Ability to work independently and within cross‑functional teams. Exceptional organizational, planning, and prioritization skills. Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to engage professionally across all levels and with external partners. Strong problem‑solving skills and a results‑focused mindset with accountability and follow‑through. Ability to negotiate and influence vendors, agencies, and associations. Familiarity with Veeva systems and medical/legal/regulatory review processes preferred. International event management experience preferred. Salary For U.S. based candidates, the proposed salary band for this position is $122,400.00 to $183,600.00. The actual salary offer will carefully consider a wide range of factors, including your skills, qualifications, experience, and location. Certain positions are eligible for additional forms of compensation, such as discretionary bonuses and long‑term incentives.
