Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: Registered Nurse (RN) Specialty: Behavioral Health - Inpatient Duration: 13 weeks Shift: 3:00 PM - 11:30 PM Hours per Shift: 8 Experience: 2 years in behavioral health, pediatric experience required License: State License Certifications: BLS Must-Have: 2 years behavioral health experience, pediatric experience Description: A Registered Nurse is responsible and accountable for performing the nursing process as a basis for patient care. Registered Nurses provide direction and oversight to other licensed and non-licensed staff. Registered Nurses show compassion to the recipients of services, coworkers, and surrounding communities through integrity, stewardship, empowerment, the promotion of diversity, and professional excellence. The Registered Nurse must demonstrate excellent customer service and enthusiasm for the program and organization. Principal Duties and Responsibilities: Assess the care needs of persons served, develop a plan of care in collaboration with an interdisciplinary team, and continually reassess the plan according to care needs. In collaboration with the physician, provide and coordinate nursing care to individuals and groups of persons served. Assist in teaching persons served and their families while providing milieu management. Communicate with and educate persons served and their families/significant others regarding discharge and aftercare planning needs. Provide a safe and secure environment for persons served and staff in both individual and group settings. Document, report, and verify all necessary information according to established policies and procedures. Monitor for and report to the physician any potential risks to the safety of persons served that could lead to adverse outcomes. Create a customer-friendly environment by following quality improvement standards and maintaining professionalism. Initiate and maintain positive relationships with departments, coworkers, and external customers. Provide care in various clinical settings with diverse populations. Identify specific needs of persons served and implement centered, compassionate care. Function as a clinical leader, delegating and coordinating staff assignments and promoting staff development. Utilize and review patient care protocols, standards of practice, and standards of care. Provide input into processes for improvement and promote careful use of resources. May be responsible for training direct care staff. May be indirectly responsible for oversight of medication and physical health activities in a program. May be responsible for scheduling, staffing, and obtaining pre-authorizations. Role model the mission and values of the organization through professional appearance, attitudes, behaviors, time management, and communication skills. Provide spiritual, emotional, social, mental, and physical support to patients. In a community residential setting, support and promote a recovery-focused environment and person-centered approach. Commit to demonstrating the Hospital and Residential Services Model of Care in both hospital and residential areas. Uphold the healing ministry through relationships that honor integrity, stewardship, empowerment, diversity, equity, inclusion, and professional excellence. Maintain annual training and demonstrate competency in the required programmatic training. Perform other duties or functions as assigned. May function as a charge nurse.
