Job Description

The Operator I assembles and tests systems using torque tools and established work processes, while maintaining accurate inventory and a clean, safe work area. This role works on a production line, pulling materials, performing computer-based operations, and following documented procedures to ensure consistent quality and efficiency.

Responsibilities

• Manually assemble systems using torque drivers and hardware to a predetermined volume, following established assembly procedures.
• Work on a production and assembly line to build components and complete systems according to documented work instructions.
• Functionally test completed systems to verify proper operation and compliance with quality standards.
• Pull necessary materials from flow racks and bin locations to support ongoing production activities.
• Perform back flush operations on computer operating systems to record material usage and maintain accurate inventory data.
• Conduct physical inventory counts in designated areas to verify stock levels and support inventory control processes.
• Inspect assembled systems and components to identify defects or nonconformities and ensure product quality.
• Maintain 5S order and cleanliness in the work area at all times, including organization, sorting, and regular housekeeping.
• Adhere to all safety rules and use required protective equipment while performing all tasks.
• Follow all safety and health rules and regulations associated with the position as directed by supervision and company policies.
• Comply with and follow all procedures within the company security policy, including proper handling of materials and information.
• Collaborate with team members and follow production schedules to meet daily output and quality targets.
• Report any equipment issues, safety concerns, or process deviations promptly to appropriate personnel.

Essential Skills

• Ability to manually assemble systems using torque drivers and torque tools with consistent accuracy.
• Experience working in a production or assembly line environment.
• Basic proficiency with hand tools and small production tools.
• Ability to perform functional testing of completed systems according to defined work processes.
• Capability to pull materials from flow racks and bin locations while maintaining proper material identification.
• Ability to perform back flush operations on computer operating systems to update material and production records.
• Attention to detail for conducting physical inventory and verifying quantities.
• Strong focus on cleanliness and organization, maintaining 5S standards in the work area.
• Understanding and application of safety rules, including correct use of required protective equipment.
• Ability to follow written and verbal instructions, procedures, and security policies.
• High school diploma or equivalent, or one to three months of related experience and/or training, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Ability to obtain and maintain all required job-related certifications.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• Prior experience in assembly, inspection, or manufacturing environments is beneficial.
• Comfort working with computer-based systems for recording production and inventory data.
• Basic mechanical aptitude and ability to work with hardware and fasteners using torque tools.
• Ability to work effectively as part of a production team and communicate clearly with coworkers.
• Willingness to follow continuous improvement and 5S practices.
• Reliability in adhering to established work schedules and shift requirements.

Work Environment

This role is based in a production and assembly line environment that relies on hand tools, torque drivers, torque tools, and computer operating systems to manage assembly and inventory processes. You work primarily on-site in a designated production area, maintaining 5S standards for organization and cleanliness. The schedule for this position is an afternoon to evening shift from 2:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m., which includes a 10% shift differential. The environment emphasizes adherence to safety and health regulations, use of required protective equipment, and compliance with company security procedures.

This is a Contract position based out of Horseheads, NY.

The pay range for this position is $17.60 - $30.88/hr.

Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.

This is a fully onsite position in Horseheads,NY.
