Shop mechanic

Shop Service TechnicianOur client is looking for a Shop Service Technician responsible for inspecting, diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining a wide range of construction equipment in a shop environment. This position requires strong mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic, and electrical skills to support the repair and service of company and customer-owned machines. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience with heavy equipment, a high level of attention to detail, and a strong commitment to customer service and workplace safety. The technician will work closely with service and parts personnel to ensure timely and efficient repairs and maintain equipment performance standards.Responsibilities:Inspect, troubleshoot, and diagnose construction equipment, including cranes, lifts, bulldozers etcPerform mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic repairs on equipment.Conduct preventative maintenance and general machine upkeep.Utilize diagnostic tools such as laptops, gauges, and instruments to detect equipment faults.Disassemble and reassemble components to OEM specifications.Operate machines to assess repair needs and evaluate repair effectiveness.Perform basic welding and cutting when necessary.Read and interpret equipment manuals, schematics, and work orders.Accurately complete service reports, timecards, and checklists.Communicate job status with customers and service office staff.Ensure compliance with OSHA safety standards.Required:Strong mechanical aptitude with the ability to troubleshoot and diagnose complex systems.Proficiency in laptop-based diagnostics and Microsoft Office.Effective written and verbal communication skills.Ability to read and interpret schematics, diagrams, and service manuals.Excellent organizational and problem-solving skills.Strong work ethic, professional demeanor, and customer-focused attitude.Basic welding skills and tool usage knowledge.Preferred:Working knowledge of this equipment: Liebherr, Roadtec, Gomaco, Manitowoc, and Grove machines.
