Education Graduate of an accredited Program preferred. High school Graduate or Equivalent. Two (2) years college preferred. Experience / Qualifications Paramedic or EMT required. Florida licensure required in respective modality. Experience working as a Paramedic or EMT or equivalent in a health care setting. American Heart Association BLS Certification for Health Care Provider. Office setting experience or equivalent required. Excellent communication skills both verbally and in writing. Excellent Customer Service Skills. Position Summary The Urgent Care Tech performs duties such as, but not limited to taking vital signs, prepares patient medical record for the provider. Proficient in Phlebotomy. Proficient in Urgent Care duties. Prepares patient medical record for the provider. Accurately and efficiently performs specimen collections and testing as defined by laboratory policy and procedure manuals. Computer data entry and workflow monitoring. Assesses environment to assure patient safety. Maintains chain of custody for forensic collections. Performs surveillance exams: hearing tests, vision screening, spirometry, EKG. Performs breath alcohol testing and urine drug screening. Ensures accurate documentation. Ensures adequate supplies and is knowledgeable in operation of equipment. Ensures current credentials and /or certifications. This position will cross train to support the front desk staff and responsibilities. Ability to utilize more than one computer system for registration, patient test resulting and billing. Verifies insurance eligibility. Answers phone and faxes reports. Maintains a clean environment. Understands quality control and expected results for POCT tests performed. Discharges patients efficiently. Able to function under stress and emergency situations. Promotes effective communications between patients, staff, physicians, and visitors. Provides knowledge of Urgent Care injuries and illnesses and facilitates early return to work. Maintains compliance with hospital/Urgent Care procedural standards. Supports and promotes JMC mission, vision, and values. Individually contributes to the team environment by demonstrating cooperative, constructive, problem‑solving interaction with JMC policies. This position must be a team player and able to multitask efficiently in a fast‑paced environment. This position requires flexibility in travel amongst all Jupiter Medical Center Urgent Care locations. Performs other duties as assigned. Physical Requirements This job can be physically demanding at times requiring stooping, sitting, standing, and walking for long periods of time. The team member will need to frequently assist lifting patients and heavy equipment. Must be able to work in a stressful environment, work independently, making sound decisions, detail oriented, alert, and self‑motivated. Ability to push/pull up to 40 lbs, carry and lift up to 50 lbs.
