Here you will work on early stage R&D development for complex systems, including but not limited to mechanical structures, batteries, mechanisms, actuators, motors, power systems, PCBAs, sensors, and payloads. The role requires high ownership and autonomy to prove concept feasibility and build Anduril's earliest stage prototypes. The ideal candidate would be practical, hands-on and a self starter.WHAT YOU'LL DOExecute rapid evaluation of engineering concepts in a wide range of fieldsIdentify partners in industry to engage with, and manage early vendor relationshipsPerform trade studies and physics-based analysis of blue-sky engineering problemsManage internal and external market research and comparisonsDesign, implementation, and test of complex electro-mechanical systemsHigh level system ownership with large levels of professional autonomyLead design reviews, run analysis, visit vendors, define and execute hardware test plansBuild and test prototypes, analyze failures, and transition successful projects towards productionSupport critical hardware demonstrations with customers and internal leadersTravel to test sites, vendors, and demos as neededUse first principles physics as a basis for every decisionREQUIRED QUALIFICATIONSExperience in an immersive technical project (collegiate project teams or professional settings)Demonstrated leadership, ownership, and autonomy skills (collegiate project teams or professional settings)3+ years of mechanical and/or electrical design experience in a professional settingCAD skills (any platform) and ability to make high quality engineering drawings that meet industry standardsExperience in PCB design and any ECAD (Altium, KiCAD, etc)High competence with, and fluid use of, engineering first principlesStrong organizational skillsBS, MS or PhD in an engineering field, or equivalent work experienceMust be eligible to obtain and maintain a U.S. TS clearancePREFERRED QUALIFICATIONSExperience with NX and Teamcenter PLMAdvanced design skills for: Machining, composites, sheet metal, injection moldingHands-on prototyping (machining, shop tools, welding, soldering, board assembly, harnessing)Practical experience with electrical engineering tools (Oscilloscopes, power supplies, electronic loads, multimeters)Experience with any: power systems, battery management systems, PCBA design, wiring harness design, controls, robotics, and or motor/servo drive systemsFamiliarity with microcontroller design (STMicro, TI, NXP, etc) from schematic to bringupAbility to read, interpret, and manipulate schematics, wiring diagrams, and layouts.Firmware/software experience (Arduino or similar)Experience in developing a variety of electronics hardware products (UAVs, wearables, firearms, high power electric propulsion, optical systems, or other complex mechanisms)Experience with microcontroller wired communication protocols (USB, MIPI CSI2, SPI, I2C, CAN, CANFD, UART/RS232/RS422/RS485)US Salary Range$129,000 - $171,000 USDThe salary range for this role is an estimate based on a wide range of compensation factors, inclusive of base salary only.
