Med Surg Tele/PCU Registered Nurse (RN)

We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Registered Nurse (RN) to join our Med Surg Tele/PCU team. The ideal candidate will provide high-quality patient care in a telemetery unit with a focus on surgical and medical patients.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide care to patients in a 30-bed unit with a typical RN-to-patient ratio of 1:5-6.
• Utilize telemetry equipment to monitor patients and interpret cardiac rhythms.
• Care for both surgical (e.g., total hip & knee replacements, bowel resections) and medical (e.g., MRSA, C-diff infections, COPD, pneumonia) patients.
• Participate in the precepting of nursing students.
• Administer medications and monitor patient records accurately in Cerner.
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to create and implement individualized care plans for patients.
• Participate in orientation and training processes for new hires in the unit.

Qualifications

• Current BLS and ACLS certifications are required.
• Minimum of one year of experience in a Med Surg setting is preferred, with telemetry experience strongly desired.
• Ability to read and interpret telemetry strips is essential.
• Willingness to float to the Multi-Care Unit and Pediatric unit as needed.

Work Schedule

Shifts consist of 12 hours, either 7:00 AM to 7:00 PM or 7:30 PM to 7:30 AM.

Weekend commitments include every other weekend, with holiday rotations distributed fairly among staff.

Additional Information

Nursing Assistants will assist with patient care, typically managing 10-15 patients. In instances where Nursing Assistants are unavailable, an RN will take on additional responsibilities to ensure primary care.

This position requires a proactive approach and the capability to manage patient care standards in a fast-paced environment.
