Shop Mechanic

Under the direct supervision of the Operations/Project Mgr. Incumbent provides skilled mechanical, maintenance and repair services to rebuild large engines and industrial equipment. This job has no supervisory responsibilities. Duties and Responsibilities: Accepts responsibility for safety of self and others on team. Uses and reads micrometers, dial indicators, depth gauges, standard mechanical knowledge, etc. Properly uses & maintains hand tools, and the company provided technical equipment. Have opportunities to work on a variety of heavy-duty equipment ongoing technical training to keep up with changes and improvements Required Skills and Abilities: Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to communicate effectively with customers & co-workers. Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral form. Ability to deal with problems involving several variables in standardized situations. Must be able to comprehend & pass various safety training modules. Education and Experience: High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or 1 to 3 years of related experience and/or training; or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Mathematical Skills-Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Prior experience in an industrial setting or use of production equipment is beneficial. Prior knowledge of material handling using pallet jacks, forklifts, hoists, or overhead cranes is beneficial. Ability to work independently.
