Senior Cloud Infrastructure Engineer – Azure Local / VMware MigrationLead a large-scale infrastructure modernization project. Migrate the virtualized environment from VMware to Azure Local (formerly Azure Stack HCI). Own the full migration lifecycle, including: bare-metal Azure Local cluster deployment, Azure Arc integration, network and security configuration, Infrastructure as Code (IaC), VMware workload migration, application validation, weekend production cutovers, and post-migration troubleshooting. Strong focus on automation, with minimal manual intervention.Azure Local Deployment: Architect and deploy Azure Local clusters. Integrate Azure Local with Azure Arc. Configure identity management and hybrid networking. Manage cluster lifecycle and operations.Network & Security: Configure VLANs, subnets, routing, and firewall policies. Establish connectivity for: cluster registration, storage replication, tenant workloads, inbound/outbound traffic. Work with enterprise firewalls such as Palo Alto, Fortinet, or Azure Firewall.Infrastructure as Code (IaC): Develop and maintain production-grade Terraform modules. Automate Azure Local resource provisioning. Automate virtual network and guest OS configuration. Use PowerShell and/or Bicep for infrastructure automation. Manage Terraform state and integrate IaC with CI/CD pipelines.VMware Migration: Plan and execute migration from VMware vSphere to Azure Local. Work with: VMware vCenter, ESXi, vMotion, DRS. Migrate application servers, SQL databases, and legacy VMs. Perform pre-migration health checks and post-migration validation. Use tools such as Azure Migrate, Zerto, or Carbonite.Weekend Cutover Leadership: Lead scheduled weekend migration windows. Execute final data synchronization. Validate application and infrastructure health. Troubleshoot migration issues in real time. Perform rollback procedures when necessary. Maintain and improve migration runbooks.Data Protection: Implement backup and recovery workflows using Rubrik. Configure Rubrik SLA policies. Perform instant recovery and export operations. Verify data integrity before and after migration batches.Performance Optimization: Optimize NVMe/SSD storage performance. Tune compute and resource allocation. Ensure migrated applications meet or exceed previous on-premises performance.Required Qualifications: 5+ years of systems engineering or cloud infrastructure experience. 8–10 years preferred in Infrastructure/Cloud Engineering. Strong VMware administration and migration experience. Hands-on Azure Local / Azure Stack HCI experience. Strong knowledge of: TCP/IP, DNS, load balancing, VLANs, subnets, routing, firewalls. Advanced scripting skills using: PowerShell, Python, Bash. Strong automation mindset. Work Arrangement: Remote/Hybrid. Weekend Commitment: Every other weekend or as scheduled during the 3-month peak migration phase. Weekend Responsibilities: application cutovers, final synchronization, health checks, troubleshooting, rollback support.
