Responsibilities
- Provide high‑quality nursing care to ED patients across all ages, with rapid assessment, stabilization, and ongoing monitoring.
- Perform triage assessments, administer medications and IV therapies, manage drips, and conduct procedures as directed.
- Obtain and interpret ECGs, apply monitors, and collaborate with the ED team to determine best patient disposition.
- Document thoroughly in the electronic medical record (Epic or equivalent), ensure accuracy of orders, and maintain patient safety and privacy.
- Support inter-facility transports when required (e.g., STEMI/Stroke/Trauma) and assist with patient transfer coordination.
- Work within the unit’s staffing model, including float opportunities to Med Surg Tele with a 1:5 patient ratio, and participate in ED telemedicine and telestroke consults as available.
- Participate in the unit’s scheduling requirements, including holiday coverage and shift rotations, with ED leadership on-call as needed.

Requirements
- Current RN license to practice in Vermont (or applicable state per credentialing rules).
- Certifications: AHA BLS, ACLS, PALS, ENPC, NRP, NIHSS, and TNCC required; TNCC or proof of class with date applied must be in packet; NIHSS required prior to start.
- Experience: Minimum 2 years of clinical nursing experience; at least 2 years in the specialty; prior travel experience required (1 travel assignment acceptable); EPIC experience within the past 2 years.
- Strong ED competencies including IV insertions/drips/infusions, EKGs, and resuscitation basics; ability to work in a fast-paced, high-acuity environment.
- Charge experience is preferred; comfortable with cross-coverage between ED and Med Surg Tele as needed.
- Education: Graduate of an accredited nursing program; current RN licensure.
- Requires ability to work in a rural ED setting with flexible scheduling including holiday coverage.
