Principal R&D Project Manager

Johnson & Johnson seeks a Principal R&D Project Manager to oversee Navigation platform projects in a regulated medical device environment. The role involves comprehensive project planning, schedule and budget management, cross-functional coordination, and design control execution across software, hardware, and clinical domains.

Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain project baselines including charter, scope, WBS, and integrated master schedule
• Track schedule execution, critical path, milestones, and communicate weekly status to platform leadership
• Manage project budget baseline, earned value tracking, and financial forecasts for program reviews
• Maintain RAID log with proactive mitigation and escalate cross-project risks appropriately
• Lead weekly core team meetings and drive disciplined design control and phase-gate readiness activities

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Life Sciences, or related field
• 5+ years project management in regulated medical device or robotics product development
• Phase-gate execution and design controls documentation in QMS environments
• Deep knowledge of FDA 21 CFR 820.30 and ISO 13485 design control requirements
• Experience managing complex cross-functional programs integrating software, systems, hardware, and clinical teams
• Proficiency with integrated master scheduling, earned value management, and RAID tracking
• Demonstrated ability to lead stakeholder communications and project escalations in regulated settings
