In this role, the successful candidate will be responsible for performing medically prescribed diagnostic mammographic and bone density procedures, is responsible for patient safety protocols and functions as the first line interface with patients in the successful accomplishment of their mammogram. Works under general direction. Job Responsibilities Demonstrates knowledge of the hospital and radiology information systems as they relate to radiology. Selects appropriate patient information from HIS/RIS system in accordance with HIPPA regulations. Accesses patient information; schedules exams; appointment times; type of exam, patient reports, etc. Follows departmental HIS/RIS system procedures and protocol to ensure orders are verified and processed correctly. Effectively assess patients information and status, and follow appropriate procedure(s) accordingly. Use standard procedures to identify the correct patient. Review patients requisition and understand the type of exam required by each requisition and confer with medical staff regarding clarification when necessary. Demonstrate skill in equipment set-up, utilization and proper maintenance procedure. Perform visual and manual quality control checks of radiographic equipment. Use imaging and peripheral equipment, in a safe and productive manner in accordance with prescribed hospital, departmental and manufacturer procedures. Observe and report any malfunctioning of the equipment and notify appropriate persons in case of missing or damaged equipment. Independently implement patient procedures in accordance with departmental protocols and standards. Explain the procedure and equipment to the patient clearly. Solve problems that arise during patient examinations using both technical knowledge and innovation. Alter examination to maximize information in response to patient’s condition. Confer with other technologists concerning previous approaches utilized. Follow accepted radiologic procedures and use medical information to determine type of protocol required for radiographic examination. Consult policy and procedure manuals and/or other reference materials as necessary to ensure actions conform to established protocols. Follow special instructions indicated on radiographic requisition. Recognize need for and follow isolation precautions. Perform other duties as assigned. Minimum Qualifications Certificate from an accredited School of Radiologic Technology. New York State license or temporary permit to practice Diagnostic Radiology. Registered by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT). Advanced Certification in Mammography. Preferred Qualifications College graduate. Two years experience in Mammographic procedures. Qualified candidates must be able to effectively communicate with all levels of the organization. NYU Langone Health provides a salary range to comply with the New York state Law on Salary Transparency in Job Advertisements. The salary range for the role is $103,224.17 - $116,173.27 Annually. Actual salaries depend on a variety of factors, including experience, specialty, education, and hospital need.
