Transportation Engineer IV: Project Delivery & Oversight

Come join the Transportation Division for an exciting opportunity to be part of a team that is delivering transportation infrastructure with the City of Virginia Beach. The selected candidate will perform a variety of engineering duties of a complex nature which may include any combination of: Project management Designing and reviewing plans and specifications for highway, roadways and storm drains Supervision of technical staff, staff engineers and field engineers The Transportation Engineer IV will provide technical guidance and oversight for senior project managers during the project delivery process, including but not limited to: Project initiation/scoping Design procurement Public/private utility relocation Construction procurement Construction management Project closeout and warranty monitoring Additional duties include but are not limited to: Track and monitor project development process to provide mitigation efforts for schedule/budget impacts as well as update reporting for the Management Team Coordinate with state and federal transportation representatives for project delivery progress Provide technical support and guidance for project delivery process improvement and documentation Provide quality assurance to ensure consistent project documentation for project managers Coordinate project development and delivery with other City Departments and stakeholders Develop reports and presentations (oral and written) for executive level project updates Provide oversight, guidance, and approvals for design and construction contracts Develop and address annual performance evaluations and manage personnel issues The City offers a generous benefits package , which includes health, dental and life insurance, retirement and savings plans, maternity/paternity and parental leave, holidays and leave.
