Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced Upholstery & Trim Technician II to join a skilled aircraft interiors team in Chesterfield, MO. This is an intermediate-level position ideal for someone with hands-on upholstery and trim experience who takes pride in producing high-quality custom work.

The Upholstery & Trim Technician II will fabricate, repair, modify, and install interior components while working with a variety of materials, including leather, fabric, foam, composites, laminates, and other aircraft-approved materials. This position requires strong craftsmanship, mechanical aptitude, attention to detail, and the ability to work with minimal supervision.

Key Responsibilities

• Fabricate, modify, repair, and install upholstered and trim components.
• Prepare surfaces through sanding, cleaning, and other preparation methods prior to covering.
• Create and modify foam components using hand and power tools.
• Pattern items for upholstery and custom fabrication.
• Sew fabrics and other materials using industrial sewing machines.
• Interpret technical drawings, specifications, and project requirements.
• Work with materials including leather, fabric, foam, wood, laminates, composites, carbon fiber, fiberglass, metals, adhesives, and other specialty materials.
• Inspect completed work to ensure quality standards and specifications are met.
• Create finished products from concepts or ideas when detailed instructions may not be available.
• Repair or modify damaged interior components as needed.
• Maintain accurate documentation of completed work.
• Work independently with minimal supervision while keeping leadership informed of project status.
• Mentor and provide guidance to junior team members.
• Collaborate with supervisors, crew leads, quality personnel, and other departments to complete projects on schedule.
• Follow established Quality Management System procedures within a highly regulated environment.
• Maintain exceptional attention to detail and high-end/VVIP quality standards.
• Follow all applicable FAA, safety, quality, and regulatory requirements.
• Maintain a clean and safe work environment.
• Participate in ongoing training and continuous improvement initiatives.
• Work various shifts and overtime as business needs require.
• Be available for occasional overnight or short-notice travel.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• 2–5 years of upholstery and trim experience in refurbishment, manufacturing, production, or a related environment.
• Aviation-specific or equivalent experience is preferred.
• Experience operating industrial sewing machines.
• Ability to pattern, cut, shape, fabricate, and install upholstery materials.
• Strong mechanical aptitude and hands-on fabrication skills.
• Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and specifications.
• Familiarity with hand tools and power tools.
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality craftsmanship.
• Ability to work independently as well as part of a team.
• Strong organizational and communication skills.
• Basic proficiency with Microsoft Office.

Physical Requirements

• Ability to routinely lift up to 60 pounds and occasionally lift heavier items with appropriate assistance/equipment.
• Ability to stand for extended periods.
• Frequent bending, squatting, kneeling, and stooping.
• Good hand and finger dexterity with the ability to perform repetitive tasks.
• Ability to work in confined spaces, around elevated work areas, and in varying temperatures and noise levels.
• Ability to work around materials and products commonly associated with aircraft maintenance and refurbishment.
• Ability to wear required personal protective equipment (PPE).
