Clinical Lab Assistant/Phlebotomist

First shift 6a-230PM with rotating weekend and holidays. Phlebotomist may be crossed trained in other CLA areas in the lab depending on the need of the laboratory. Phlebotomy Experience Required!

About the Job

The Clinical Lab Assistant/Phlebotomist performs duties of Patient Registration, Central Processing and Phlebotomy. The incumbent will also perform specimen collection, receiving and distribution of specimens to the appropriate technical departments and will perform documentation of quality exceptions according to Laboratory protocol.

What You’ll Do

Collect, receive, and sort specimens. Draw blood using proper technique. Responsible for accurate patient identification. Accurately key and record patient information and laboratory orders into the information systems. Perform laboratory tasks of centrifuging specimens, printing extra labels, specimen storage and retrieval. Prepare specimens for testing, including building worklists, aliquoting specimens, measuring specimens, and checking specimen integrity. Maintain competency in all phlebotomy procedures and protocols.

Who You Are

High School diploma or GED required. Phlebotomy Certification preferred. A minimum of one-three years of Laboratory experience preferred.
