Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: Nursing Specialty: Labor and Delivery Duration: 13 weeks Shift: 12 Hours Nights Hours per Shift: 12 Experience: Minimum of 2 years License: Valid RN License Certifications: BLS, NRP Must-Have: Experience in Labor and Delivery and Level 2 Nursery Description: This role requires a Registered Nurse with a specialty in Labor and Delivery. Candidates must have a minimum of 2 years of clinical experience. The position involves floating between triage, labor and delivery, and nursery roles as needed. Nurses will care for both mothers and babies during labor, delivery, and postpartum recovery. The unit adheres strictly to AWHONN guidelines for nurse-patient ratios. Responsibilities include circulating in the OR for C-sections and managing normal newborn transitions. Nurses are expected to triage patients and monitor drips as per physician orders. There is a charge nurse on each shift overseeing the department without a patient load. Candidates should possess skills to monitor epidurals and be familiar with common titratable drips. Experience with special care nursery patients is preferred. This environment promotes teamwork and is friendly to traveler nurses. Nursing staff are responsible for interpreting fetal monitoring strips. Telemetry capabilities are available for laboring patients, with centralized fetal heart monitoring. The nursing team works three 12-hour shifts a week with every other weekend requirements. Additional duties may include supporting colleagues and contributing to a collaborative team atmosphere. All interested candidates should be prepared for rotating holiday requirements.
