Supervisor Operationalizes Quality Assurance Program

The supervisor operationalizes the quality assurance program in daily practice to guarantee that the right instrument, in the right condition, is available at the right time and place. This involves performing and documenting weekly RMD audits, reporting deficiencies to the Chief of SPS, notifying employees of findings, and addressing recurring issues with staff as appropriate. The incumbent makes operational decisions based on observations and findings, ensuring corrective actions are implemented promptly. In collaboration with the RMD Coordinator, the supervisor is responsible for deploying a comprehensive training program for all SPS staff, ensuring documented competency validation in accordance with national policy guidelines. The incumbent provides training and guidance to subordinates to ensure compliance with safety regulations and adherence to Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for cleaning, disinfection, sterilization, and preparation of RMD. The supervisor ensures all personnel understand the importance of RMD processes and their impact on patient safety, including the prohibition of reusing single-use devices. The incumbent plans and assigns work on a daily, weekly, monthly, and annual basis, adjusting priorities and schedules to alleviate workflow bottlenecks. Work assignments are based on priorities, complexity, and employee capability. The supervisor establishes clear performance expectations, observes and critiques work performance, provides informal feedback, and conducts formal evaluations through the ePerformance system. Recommendations regarding hiring, promotion, and advancement of Medical Supply Technicians are made, and the supervisor participates in interview panels as needed. Additional responsibilities include tracking leave and attendance, meeting quarterly with staff, and reporting concerns regarding leave patterns to the Chief of SPS. The incumbent hears and resolves employee complaints, referring unresolved or group grievances to higher-level management. Developmental and training needs are identified, and opportunities for improvement in production and quality are pursued. The supervisor provides advice and counsel on technical and administrative matters, develops work improvement plans, and recommends personnel actions when necessary, including disciplinary measures within the framework of progressive discipline. The incumbent maintains current knowledge of SOPs and ensures compliance with manufacturer guidelines for RMD reprocessing. All staff under supervision must be familiar with local SOPs, proper decontamination steps, and transport methods for RMD. The supervisor ensures that any suspected breach in cleaning, disinfection, or sterilization processes results in suspension of reuse until resolved.

Pay: Competitive salary and regular salary increases.

Paid Time Off: 37-50 days of annual paid time offer per year (13-26 days of annual leave, 13 days of sick leave, 11 paid Federal holidays per year). Selected applicants may qualify for credit toward annual leave accrual, based on prior work experience or military service experience.

Parental Leave: After 12 months of employment, up to 12 weeks of paid parental leave in connection with the birth, adoption, or foster care placement of a child.

Child Care Subsidy: After 60 days of employment, full time employees with a total family income below $144,000 may be eligible for a childcare subsidy up to 25% of total eligible childcare costs for eligible children up to the monthly maximum of $416.66.
