Project Overview:

The Cheniere Sabine Pass Liquefaction (SPL) Project is a Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG) export facility located along the Sabine River estuary on the southeastern coast of Cameron Parish, Louisiana. Bulk early work for Stage 1 began at the 1,000+ acre facility in August 2012 and by December 2022, Bechtel had successfully and safely turned over the final phase of Stage 4 to Cheniere. The SPL campus now consists of six operating Trains with an LNG production capacity of approximately 27 million tons per year (MTPA), 3 Jetty superstructures that can accommodate the world's largest vessels, and dozens of associated buildings and utilities. Sabine Pass Liquefaction Stage 5 Expansion Project (SPL5) is the newest phase at the SPL facility. It will consist of one liquefaction process train with a production capacity of approximately 5 MTPA; one boil-off gas reliquefaction unit; tie-ins to existing storage tanks, ship-loading facilities, and flare systems; and associated utility support infrastructure. The Infrastructure GBU scope consists of installing 9000+ precast concrete driven piles, construction of a new concrete retaining wall, ground improvement works (inc. soil stabilization and wick drains), extension of the existing earthworks platform, construction of a new network of roads, and modifications to the stormwater drainage system.

Job Summary:

The Surveyor provides support as required to the construction team reporting directly to the Lead Surveyor. They will perform surveying activities relating to the Infrastructure GBU scope of works, liaising with Field Engineering. They will use design drawings, model and specifications to determine associated commodity locations. They will work with Field Engineering to support field verification of materials as appropriate and needed. They will provide technical support to Field Engineering and Superintendents in a wide range of situations and configurations.

Major Responsibilities:

• Assist the Lead Surveyor with the oversight of the survey operations and provides technical direction to the direct-hire survey team
• Perform the duties of the Lead Surveyor during his/her absence
• Support the survey team's implementation of the project safety, quality, and environmental programs
• Responsible for the accurate layout of construction work, recordation of field data according to job specifications and appropriate methods of performing survey activities
• Provide Construction Survey support to both Field Engineering and Field Supervision
• Establish and/or verify and maintain the project's survey control network
• Perform verifications of subcontract survey control points and work
• Perform and/or supervise the preparation of survey CAD drawings, including generation of Digital Terrain Models (DTM) and volumes computations
• Perform and/or review Survey Control field work and perform accurate network least squares adjustments
• Provide Civil project completion documentation including "As-Built" records
• Perform or oversee the development and management of survey data
• Perform or oversee the Calibration Baseline checks of survey instruments
• Support the administration of the survey work request program
• Perform and/or check survey computations as required in the performance of duties
• Support the implementation of project's machine control technology
• Support the implementation of the UAV (Drones) program
• Support the implementation of the 3D Laser Scanning operations, including reality capture and processing of scan data
• Support the creation and implementation of the survey training program

Education and Experience Requirements:

• Engineering/Technical degree and 2-5 years' experience in heavy construction/industrial surveying, involving a mix of field and office duties with modern instruments and software or 6-9 years' experience in heavy construction/industrial surveying in lieu of a degree.
• Experience working on multiple work fronts.
• Experience as Pilot of UAV (Drones).

Required Knowledge and Skills:

• Prior siteworks surveying experience.
• Working knowledge of Bechtel construction procedures.
• Knowledge of construction survey principles.
• Knowledge of supervisory functions relating to industrial surveying field & office activities.
• Demonstrated ability to maintain a safe work ethic and work environment at all times.
• Demonstrated ability to work in a team-based environment, able to formulate a working relationship with survey team members, other departments, contractors and survey functional management.
• Displays effective communications skills crucial to motivating team members and presenting plans in a clear and concise manner.
• Excellent problem-solving ability.
• Demonstrated experience with modern Robotic Total Stations, Digital Levels and GNSS survey systems.
• Demonstrated proficiency with Survey CAD software, including generation of Digital Terrain Models (DTM) and volumes computations.
• Work under time constraints and must be adaptable to changing conditions.
• Ability to work with minimal supervision.
• Intermediate level use of Microsoft Teams, Outlook, Word and Excel.
• Familiarity with heavy equipment Machine Control technology.
