Senior Estimator
The Senior Estimator has a focus on companywide success in adherence to MCC Standards and all preconstruction activities necessary for the preparation and undertaking of all of Manhattan's preconstruction services. The position is responsible for compiling estimates & driving precon deliverables to budget. The Senior Estimator must be a flexible and adaptable team player and have strong communication and client service skills. In addition, the skill set of owning one's work & being confident in the message being delivered is crucial to this role.
Major duties and responsibilities include:
- Establish work teams
- Attend client/design meetings
- Make assignments
- Solicit vendors
- Ability to utilize BIM for quantity take-offs
- Develop bid strategies for projects
- Create subcontractor solicitation lists
- Ensure coverage on all scopes of work
- Deliver constructability review, system analysis, and value management
- Delegate scope assignments
- Assists in the RMP process (ATP - precon forecasters & ATB reviews)
- Compile & review all take-off and pricing
- Combine/review estimates
- Review all sub-lists with operations team members; assist in complying with prequalification standards
- Review all tab sheets
- Lead tab sheet review
- Assist with negotiating subcontracts and purchasing all major aspects of the project
- Support operations team members in developing a job cost budget
- Manage turnover or transition meetings
- Develop owner deliverables; estimate summary, estimate detail, clarifications
- Assist in value management exercises
- Responsible for conducting themselves in accordance with our guiding principles and exhibiting attributes matching the way we work
- Other duties as assigned
Job skills and abilities guidelines include:
- Knowledge and efficiency in Manhattan software
- Strong networking ability, known in the community
- Strong conceptual estimating skills
- Experience with delivering stellar preconstruction services to clients & managing the budget
- Familiarity with logistics and operations
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Strong math/accounting skills
- Ability to meet critical deadlines
- Ability to maintain discretion and confidentiality at all times
- Time management skills and organizational skills
- Ability to understand and follow directions
- Ability to read drawings and specifications
- Ability to accurately obtain quantities & compile estimates
- Knowledge of Autodesk software
- Knowledge of estimating & takeoff software
Minimum qualifications include:
- Bachelor's degree- Construction Management, Engineering or equivalent. May substitute required education degree with related experience on a one-to-one basis
- 8 years of industry experience
Working conditions and physical efforts include:
- Ability to physically stand, bend, sit for long periods, and squat throughout the day.
- Ability to repeat the same movements.
- Ability to communicate effectively to participate fully in meetings, video conferences, and phone calls.
- Use hands to type, handle, control, or feel objects, tools, or controls.
- Occasionally lift, pull, or move up to 25 lbs.
- Occasional travel will be required, primarily in the metropolitan area but sometimes domestically (must have a valid Driver's License).
