About the Position

TravelNurseSource is working with Cynet Health to find a qualified ICU/Critical Care RN in Charleston, West Virginia, 25309!

Job Title: Registered Nurse - ICU Profession: RN (Registered Nurse) Specialty: ICU - Intensive Care Unit Duration: 13 weeks Shift: 12-hour nights, weekends, and holidays as scheduled Hours per Shift: 36 hours per week Experience: Minimum 2 years of ICU or critical care experience required License: Required Certifications: BLS, ACLS Must-Have: ICU experience, travel experience required Description: Unit has 18 beds, with plans to expand to 27 beds by mid-2023. Nurse-to-patient ratios are typically 1 nurse to 2 patients, occasionally 3 patients in overflow situations. Required certifications include BLS and ACLS. Preferred certifications are PALS and TNCC. Common patient diagnoses include critically ill patients with complex needs such as sepsis, acute myocardial infarction, renal issues, and post-vascular procedures. Responsibilities may include invasive and non-invasive hemodynamic monitoring, ventilator management, and titration of critical drips such as vasopressors and sedation. Patient age range includes adolescent, adult, and geriatric individuals. Two years of critical care experience is preferred, along with experience in CRRT and IABP; Impella experience is also preferred. Nurses are required to titrate drips, including Levophed, Cardizem, Amiodarone, Heparin, and Insulin. Charge nurse roles primarily involve oversight without patient assignments, and a house supervisor is available 24/7. Respiratory therapy services are available as needed. Telemetry is available on the unit, and registered nurses are responsible for reading strips. Weekend requirements include every other weekend, with holiday rotation required as part of the core staff. Floating to step-down units, medical-surgical, or telemetry may be required, although floating to medical-surgical is rare. Dress code includes navy scrubs for RNs, with solid color scrubs required and no patterns or embroidery allowed. Closed-toe shoes only are permitted. Orientation includes one general hospital orientation day, one full day of nursing orientation, and two 12-hour shifts with a preceptor.
