Job Description
Job Description NCPI is looking for a dynamic, creative, and talented individual to join our team as Public Safety Instructional Designer. This person will be responsible for bringing ideas to fruition in finished products and services that reflect NCPI’s standards for excellence in developing and delivering public safety training programs (in-person and web-based), learning resources, and educational content. The person in this position will be tasked with completing all aspects of the instructional design process, from analysis and project scoping through course implementation and evaluation, for original content development projects dealing with critical and emerging issues in public safety. This person will work both independently and as part of an extensive team, including staff, subject-matter experts, public-safety practitioners, and other partners in the development and delivery of national programs, content, and services.

First, do you have the basic requirements?
Proven experience creating engaging content and curriculum, including interactive web-based and in-person training materials
Knowledge of accessibility best practices and inclusive instructional design, general awareness of WCAG and Section 508 standards preferred
Proficiency with technology platforms and software necessary to support effective content creation, experience using elearning authoring tools preferred
Willingness and ability to learn and utilize existing instructional design processes and templates
Ability to be both self-directed and work effectively as part of a team
Ability to dig into details and understand the bigger picture
Strong organizational, interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills
Master’s degree in instructional design, education, criminal justice, public administration, or a related field is strongly preferred
Public safety experience preferred
