MISSION

Flatpay is now building its US business, and the Product Specialist role is how our product organization in Denmark stays connected to what actually happens on the ground. You will be the first Product Specialist in the US, and for a while the only one.

Your job is to make sure US merchant reality shapes what HQ builds, that US Sales, Support and Operations are fully enabled on the product, and that every launch lands here with clarity and impact.

You will operate as an embedded product thinker in the US market: technical enough to understand the “how”, commercial enough to understand the “why” behind business decisions.

WHAT YOU'LL DO

• Own product expertise for the US market - be the person Sales, Support and Operations come to first.

• Train and enable local teams through onboarding, product updates, hands-on support, and the enablement material to go with it.

• Translate HQ product releases into clear, sales-ready communication for the US market.

• Gather and structure US market feedback: adoption blockers, UX friction, bugs, satisfaction signals and feature requests.

• Own “Voice of the US Market” - a regular, structured readout to HQ Product on what US merchants are actually experiencing.

• Partner with Product Managers, in the US and at HQ, to turn field insight into roadmap input - and make the case hard when US requirements are being deprioritized by default.

• Run merchant interviews and sales ride alongs often enough that your input is grounded in current evidence rather than anecdote.

• Coordinate US rollout of new products and features, including what needs adapting before it launches here.

• Import what already works in our European markets instead of rebuilding it.

• Help resolve complex merchant cases together with Support, Operations and Engineering.

• Build the operating rhythm for this function in the US: cadences, feedback loops, documentation, demo environments.

... This is a proactive role, not a reactive support desk. If you are sitting waiting for tickets, something has gone wrong.

WHO YOU ARE

• You bring a curious, empathetic and structured mindset. You take messy input from a dozen sources and turn it into a clear signal a Product Managers can act on.

• Being hands-on comes naturally, whether that means assembling a demo kit, debugging a merchant's setup on site, or running a training session for ten salespeople.

• You are a strong communicator who builds trust quickly, with merchants and internally, and you can run a structured merchant interview without leading the witness.

• You are digitally savvy and genuinely interested in how technology creates value for small businesses - restaurants, salons, retail shops - and you are not too senior to spend a day behind a counter.

Moreover, we imagine:

• 3+ years experience in product, product operations, sales enablement, customer success or solutions - or a comparable background where you owned the space between a product and the people selling or using it.

• Based in New York City, and willing to work early mornings to overlap with Denmark, which runs six hours ahead of ET.

• Able to learn technical systems quickly and teach them to non-technical people.

• Strong interpersonal and written communication skills - much of your influence at HQ will be asynchronous and in writing

• Structured and self-directed enough to build a process where none exists

• Comfortable operating without formal decision-making authority - your influence comes from evidence and trust, not from owning the roadmap.

• Willing to travel: roughly quarterly to Denmark for onboarding, workshops and off-sites, plus domestic travel to be with merchants and sales teams.

• Authorized to work in the United States.
